My name is Douglas Asiwome-Senahia
I’m the last to a family of eleven four girls and seven boys, not being selfish, I had the policy of meeting other peoples need, and seeing another person satisfied was my happiness. But also,I knew all this would not come to bare without one having a solid foundation for him/herself or being firmly rooted educationally, morally and financially. But of course if I had a well built foundation as wished, my future would have been a dream come true, yet i have my hopes surely high whiles the grace of God is ever sufficient.
I am currently working and looking forward to a fulfilling future, where I can say my dream of satisfying other people’s needs is taking place.
I`m the marketing coordinator in the Central/Western and Greater Accra region for SAGE LITERARY HOUSE (A book publishing company) apart from just the sale of books, I also host and fund a reading/ writing and illustration competition for my client schools in all the regions I operate. The competition named Sage Literary Talent is designed to inculcate a good reading habit in school children and that is as part of our ongoing effort to championing a reading revolution in our dear nation Ghana.
Having this as stake, I deem it necessary to invest more money into running the competition to foster the program to a successful patronage and to the benefit of all.
It is almost the end of first term in our Ghanaian school cycle, schools would be vacating during Christmas holidays. In times like these, students after haven enjoyed the holiday with their friends and family in moments of mirth often feels unexciting and boring when the season is over and schools resumes from vacation. Due to that, i came up with an idea to host another literary talent context for the students that would stand them a chance to winning very interesting prices, and in fact, participation would strictly be by the purchase of the books i would sell to them. In the book, would be a question demanding them to either write a summary / a poem about any characters in the book or to illustrate from the books any scene in the book. The books would be sold to the students after their terminal exams to be taken home and would be required to submit the answers on their return from the vacation. The context shall be conducted in a school with a capacity of about thousand and five hundred (1500) pupils. And to start with, i wish to buy as prizes three e-pads which cost US$100.00 per one. Should halve of the population 1500 that`s 750 participate in the context, automatically 750 books would have been bought amounting US$1875. Due to the context, a book would be sold at a retail price of US$2.50, i therefore am entitled to a 50% (fifty percent) share and then after, have a profit of approx US$637.5 when i deduct US$300.00 from the US$9375.00. This would help promote a good reading habit in among the students.
