About Me

I am a lady of 33 years of age. I come from a family of six and I am the first born among my siblings. Unfortunately, we lost our dad at an infancy stage. Our mum also later died from lung cancer. We are nicely taken care of by our aunt. I was able to complete Junior High School. Right after my Junior High School, I decided to learn a vocation due to a little bit of financial hardship. I completed my apprenticeship in three years later. I am very happy that three of my siblings are currently in Senior High School and two of my younger ones are in Junior High School. Thank my aunty for her help in my vocation and her massive financial contribution towards my siblings education. I am proud of myself today because I have own a shop and a machine to satisfy the services of my customers.

My Business

I am a seamstress I make both male and female wears. This services to clients are in very high demands because of various ongoing occasions in my area. People do come from far and near for my services. The most popular dress in high demands are traditional, cultural and ceremonial. The Kaba and Silt one of many Ghanaian traditional dresses, for women. It is the most popular traditional dress worn by women simply because it looks elegant. The Kaba a slit originates from the loose tunic like top worn all over Africa since the beginning of time and a loose cloth which women wrapped around their chest or waist and folded at the top to keep it firmly around the body. This wrap cloth evolved into a piece of cloth with strings that made it’s fitting safer. This then transgressed into the sown fitted skirt still with a string at the waist to tighten and loosen it, with a slit either on the bottom back or on the side for room for movement. The top of the Kaba also evolved and darts were place in the middle to make it more fitted and a zip was placed at the back. An extra piece of cloth called ‘akataso’ in Twi, goes with the Kaba, big enough for a woman to wrap around herself, put over her shoulders to keep her warm, fold into an extra head scarf, or use it to carry a child on their back. This is in high demands. I always have services to provide to my clients. It helps me save 20 percent of my income a day, 10 percent for my upkeep, 40 percent channeled into my siblings school fees and pocket money. 30 percent for more materials to satisfy my clients on time and with a better service. My hope is to expand my shop and to get more sowing machines in the future. I want to train up the less privilege ones in my area who have no chance to go to school to alleviate poverty in my area and to make them financially independent as I am today. My wildest dream is to set up a big dress making vocational center in my area for those who are also in a unfair situation which I was once in.

Loan Proposal

I will use this loan to expand my shop to make it a bit more spacious for my clients and also to freely contain more goods. I will buy more of sowing materials to add to the ones l already have. Materials such as 5 bags of cement will be needed to mould blocks, one truck and trip of sand will be needed, water and workers will be paid for workmanship. Demands of my clients will be duly satisfied with better service. My place will also be a place of attraction to more people. The more the customers the more my profit margin increases. It would help in smooth running of business to the best interest of my customers and myself.
