About Me

I was born and raised in a remote area of the central province of kenya called Nyeri. My father was a teacher in a local primary school while my mother was a stay home mum, and made a little income from farming. We used to help my mother in the farms every time we were not in school. I am the second born in a family of four. i attended my pre school in the area, primary and secondary school in the same Nyeri region. We never had lots of free time on our hands as my father was very strict with school hours, and at home my mother was very keen on us helping her in the farms. My parents talked to us a lot about working hard for our future and I made a decision when i was young to study hard and have a better future for me and my future family. I passed my secondary school very well and was admitted to a local university to study Business Administration. After graduation, i got a sales job with Barclays Bank and worked for an year but the pay was very little. i have always had a passion for baking and i begun baking to supplement my income. I quit employment to concentrate on my young business and family. I am married and have three children whom i closely monitor to nurture their talents.

My Business

I have been baking pastries and bread in my kitchen for two years after leaving employment. I use my oven in the kitchen to bake bread, rolls and cakes for sale in the neighboring stores and shops. After baking and packaging them, I personally deliver the community of friends and neighbors. I do this on a day to day basis. On average, my small business makes a gross of about Kes 40,000 to Kes 45,000 per month. After factoring in costs of fuel and raw materials, I will make approximately a net of kshs 25,000 to kshs 30,000. The demand for my products is very encouraging and has the potential to grow. I want to take advantage of the help I can get from Zidisha and grow my pastries business.

I will be very happy if I get capital assistance from Zidisha and start a journey of growth. The first few steps will be to get a larger commercial oven that has better stock out put than the one I have now. The next few steps will be to move my business to a larger premises and get better and more efficient of the distribution of my bread.

Loan Proposal

I need to purchase new baking tins. I have some but I need a variety. I have come to appreciate that customers are attracted by unique pastries and this might be a stepping stone for my young business. Am looking to raise 200 dollars.

The last loan I took helped me better the quality of my bread by getting better inputs and at economic scales. This also help me make my production more consistent because unlike before there were no stock outs. I was also able to move my market beyond my neighborhood and therefor increase the number of my customers.

If you apply for a larger loan next time, please try to use a better picture. www.zidisha.org/feature-cri...
I don't know if you can see your page the way lenders do, if not, your picture is a blur of grey with something in the corner.
