About Me

My name is Judith Akiyi, I was born and raised up in Lambwe Valley of Homa Bay County. My parents are peasant farmers. I am the 3rd born in a family of 7 (4 Boys and 3 girls). I went through my early education successfully and sat for my final examinations in Primary Education in the year 2000. Even though I passed the exams and emerged in the 5th position at our school, I couldn't manage to proceed with my education to high school due to lack of funds to support my further education. I dropped from school at a very young age (15 years). Having dropped from school., I stayed at home for 3 years assisting my parents with farm chores but life was unbearable so I decided to get married.

I got married and God blessed our marriage with 3 children. My husband is a University Graduate but has not succeeded in getting a formal employment since 2002. This hardship is what compelled me to start a small groceries shop to help us meet our family financial needs and educational costs for our 3 children.

In my free time, I do knitting and pattern design. I am a happy woman and I bring up my children in godly way.

With the little savings made from menial jobs I was doing to people for pay, I started a Groceries and Foodstuff shop. My basic market facts collection study found out that the community need these daily needs for their survival. My people have a unique cultural values in the sense of taboos and custom beliefs.

My Business

Juddie Groceries Shop, is the name I trade with. The shop is located at a very strategic Market Drive Area in Mbita Town. I started this provision store in my village because there a lot of people in this village that purchase essential household commodities daily. Since I started the business, I am happy that people are always at my shop purchasing. The main products are breakfast items like ,milk, bread tea, coffee and all kinds of bakery products. Also laundry products like, soap, soap powders and detergents are sold in my shop. The main motive behind me choosing this business was that, everyone will need this in everyday life because you have to take your breakfast, lunch and supper and you will need these items to prepare that

ZIDISHA first loan will help me a lot in my business thereby helping me to stock my shop.

Loan Proposal

I am seeking a loan of KES 9,130 to enable me purchase more essential food items for sale at my shop as follows;

- I will use KES 7,000 to buy detergents, soap, breakfast and lunch products etc.

- I will use KES 2,000 to improve the business kik

I assure you that, I will use the money solely for the purpose it's requested for. The 1st ZIDISHA loan will help in the expansion of my business and make it viable to attract more customers and help grow my business.I plead with the lenders to consider this my application in other for me to stock my shop with so many products to be able to solve the needs of the community. I hope and know that if I get this money my profit margin will be increased and will be able to generate a minimum of 20% profit within a week.

    Dear Zidisha Team,

Judith Akinyi is not answering my call. I have spoken to Judith Abuya one of the family members. I have asked Abuya to tell Judith to adjust her loan so that she can pay as little as she can so that she can be on time payment. She said she will tell her that.

    Thank you,

    Dear zidisha Team,

Judith Akinyi finally called me. She is complaining on how she as been badly off since her mother passed away. I have told her am very sorry about that, but asked her to adjust her payment as little as 100/-, so that she can start paying for the days she has defaulted.

She has said she will do exactly that starting today.

I also thank one of the invitees Agira, who made efforts to reach Judith.

    Thank you,

    Dear Zidisha Team,
Judith is not answering my call. I have talked to Helen, she said she tried to talk to Judith but Judith said she has our numbers and she can contact us when she is ready. I have requested Helen to please advise Judith on how to adjust her loan and pay the little she can. I went ahead and talked to Chrispine Agira one of the neighbours, I have told Chrispine to contact Judith and kindly show Judith on how to adjust her loan up to 100/- shillings and pay for the days she has defaulted then when she gets the money she can increase her payment and complete her payments. I went ahead and told Chrispine to tell Judith, that it is not good to default and keep quiet. She should let the lenders know what is happening and how the business is doing. But she should adjust in case of difficulty in payments. He said he will tell Judith exactly that.

    Thank You,
