About Me

I am Felix Kweku Acquah the last child of Mr and Mrs Acquah. I am from Central Region of Ghana. Born into a family of six. I attended Methodist Basic School. And proceeded to Presbyterian Senior High school all in Techiman which I studied general science . My father died when I was five years old so I raised by my mother and my siblings. From high school I continued to teacher training college which I pursued science and maths. I completed in 2013.
When my father died, things became difficult for me especially me education. So I spend additional two years to my days in basic school. Due to that I joined a construction company immediately I completed basic school to help finance my high school. During high school days things became tough for me so I used to stay out from school just to work for money to support my schooling throughout to college. I sometimes work with my brother in a printing press. I went through hell before being able to complete school.
Through my days in school I could not buy even a single textbook to enhance my education. S o I made it a dream to do what I can to make items needed for effective learning most especially exercise and text books available to students in the cheapest price. After completing college I decided to start the business.
The area I am living in is a land rich in minerals which is good for agriculture . We have rich culture. We have a festival which everyone has the power to whatever went wrong during the past year even to the King.
My hobby is sports most especially football and volleyball. I was the sport prefect in my basic school. A member of the football team of my high school. I was also the volleyball captain when I was u college which I formed part of the regional volleyball team. We won silver in two occasions in colleges games(COESA).

My Business

The business will comprise of publishing exercise books sketchpads and text books. First of all will I start will start with the exercise books and sketchpads.
After completing training college, I was posted to a rural area. In there it is difficult for students to get such of these items. Some use previous exercise books which is even ditto -rated. Sometimes you find class three text book in class six bag. The scarcity of these books is as a result of far distance between the rural areas to the urban centres. This makes the students to buy any book available to them even if the book in in relevant. Therefore it is in high demand in these rural areas and the aim is to target those areas.
I choose this particular business due to what I went through as a child with on materials needed for learning which I was not able to exhibit my full potentials. And also what even motivated me is the stress the students in the rural areas go through. And also the knowledge I have in printing when I was working with my brother.
I estimated to print 30,000exercise books and 10,000 sketchpads which will costGHS20,000 ($4,800). But due financial constrain I scaled it down to GHS5,000 ($ 1,200) which will print 7,500 exercise books and 2,500 sketchpads. As a teacher I have saved some of my salary for this project.
Since my initial capital was not met I will invest the profit in expanding the business.

Loan Proposal

Due to the loan granted to me, it helped me to meet the target of goods to be produce in the first year of the business. Patronage was overwhelming due to the fact that the books were quality and affordable as compared to those in the market. The aim and ambition of the establishment of this business was to send these educational materials to the doorsteps of the students especially those in the rural areas. But this aim was nearly sabotaged due to the distance from one town to another and also from the manufacturing base to the distribution centers. High cost was involved in supply of the goods which really affected my profit. This was as a result of hiring a motorbike or tricycle to convey the goods. This brought a huge dept which was covered with by the profit. If this loan of $382 is granted, it will help me buy a motorbik which will aid in supply of the goods in time, cover some areas l was not able to supply and reduce the cost of distributing the books drastically because only fuel will be bought. The sustainability of this business depends on whether this loan will be granted or not. Taking money from the capital will affect the number of goods to be produced. This motorbike will not only reduce cost of supply but most important on time supply because purchase of the books by the students is mainly on the first two to three weeks when schools re-opened else it will be a massive problem. I hope this time around my loan will be fully funded for I applied which was not fully funded and the amount funded could not help me purchase the motorbike i dream for.Thank you all for at least giving us support to elevate poverty and pending problems affecting mostly Africans and other needy nations. Hope to hear from you soon.

With the loan received, I will buy a motorbike. The problem with my business is transportation. The villages are far from each other so transporting the goods is very difficult. Motorbike or tricycle is also hired to transport them which brings extral cost. With the motor at hand, transporting the books will be a little much easier and l will be on time in terms of delivery.
I really appreciate what the lenders are doing for me and I am extremely thanful for their help. May they receive thousand fold of what they are spending

My loan application is yet to be funded and is a little worrying because I need the motor to start next term distributions before school reopened to inform the students that some of the books is still available before I enter into next academic year production of the books. Hiring a motor will cost me dearly since the communities around are far apart and more over it affect the profit which will also go the long way to affect the target set for next year production.

Due to the affordability of the books, purchasing of the books by the students is very good so I want increase the amount I am paying to finish payments before time.

    Dear Felix,

Requests for administrative help have been removed from this page.

Please use the "Support Ticket" feature in the "Help" section of your Zidisha account to communicate with Zidisha's Administrative Staff.

Most lenders are not on Staff and cannot help you with anything administrative.

The Discussion page is for you to update your lenders about the progress of your education and/or business (and other aspects of your life if you wish to share more, and about their lives, too, if they wish to share). It also is a place for your Volunteer Mentor to post information, when necessary, that you and/or your lenders need to know.

Anything having to do with disbursements, payments, your credit limit, all technical problems on the website (including but not limited to: posting photos or comments), your ineligibility or eligibility to become or to remain a Volunteer Mentor, etc., must be communicated via the new "Support Ticket" system located on the "Help" page of your Zidisha account.

Other than that, if you ever have any log-in problems, then please send an email to "[email protected]" with "Cannot Log In" (without the quotation marks) placed in the Subject line of your email. Please use email for log-in problems ONLY. (All other borrower issues are handled via the new "Support Ticket" system.)

Thank you for your cooperation, and best wishes! :-)

I will use the money to buy the materials needed to finish the last barge of the exercise books and sketchpads.
This will help me to produce the books in time for sales.
I really appreciate the help being given to me. My dreams is that, one day I will be able to help others as you are helping us. I thank you all.

Due to the help of the loan I was able to purchased materials more than the estimated number.
I have now printed 10 thousand exercise books and 4 thousand sketchpads. As at now I have distributed 1 thousand exercise books and 2 hundred sketchpads. The actual distribution will be done when basic schools reopened
Due to the urgency of the work I was able to have holidays with my family
