About Me

l was born from a family of 4 girls, l been the first born in the family. When l was in Grade 12, l lost my father who was the bread winner of the family and so our family got slit up and l being in my final year at school was left to write my finals.

My Business

l work at an internet cafe called Cyber Surf Dot Com as a Customer Care Assistant.
l also do sell clothes for kids and perfumes for adults as my secondary income.
Kids must dress up and adults must smell good, so the demand on these products are high.
Looking at my clientele, l was always asked if l do supply this and that so l decided to give it a try and the response was amazing. my cost and revenue are usually normal, but also depends on the time. Most of the times l reinvest my profit but sometimes may 2 % of the times pay for my daughter's school fees.

Loan Proposal

l want to buy cosmetics e.g perfumes, lipsticks, infants and toddlers outfits and shoes from South Africa and UK which l will resell here in Zambia which comes to US$ 285 including shipping. My pricing is very fair since transportation is in bulk than when my clients have to buy 1 pair and be charged almost the same amount as for 5 pairs so this also benefits me because l have 3 kids and as l bring in clothes and shoes for my kids l also bring in for other people which makes it a win win for both parties. my charge per pair is always 3% basis of the actual price of the total landing cost. this is how my profit is like, and that is why l have customers that are always happy with what l have to offer and keep coming back for more.

    Hello,
    How are you.
I have a question concerning one of my recruits, Dudah Simumba. She requested for a loan but the condition following the leading are not clear hence me asking this question, let me quote what her condition of leading states:-

Since you were invited by a Zidisha member in good standing, you can borrow up to 195 ZMW for your first loan. This includes our standard 5% service fee and a one-time only membership fee of 0% of your first loan amount.

Would you like a larger loan? If so, we request that you establish trustworthiness through a one-time Members Loan Fund payment equal to the difference of your pre-approved amount (195 ZMW) and your desired amount. You will still receive 195 ZMW, but once you repay the full amount of your requested loan including the Members Loan Fund payment, your loans will reflect the full increased credit limit without the Members Loan Fund deduction.

Please choose a first loan and one-time deduction amount.

please enlighten me as she wishes to borrow some funds and she is scared if she accept the condition stated herein she will be held responsible. please advice me on what to tell her.

    Thank you
    Careen

      Hi Careen.

It can be a bit complicated. Ideally, you should forward your query to the zidisha team:
      [email protected]

Or you can ask at the forum:
      forum.zidisha.org/

As best as I understand it - if your friend takes a loan of up to 195 ZMW for her first loan, then she should only be asked to repay 195 + 5% service fee (= 204.75 ZMW).

Because your friend has had an invite from you, she is allowed to increase her credit amount for the first loan. However in this case she would be asked to deposit into the members loan fund an amount equal to the difference between her loan and the 195 original limit. So if she wanted to borrow 400, she would actually only receive 195, but then have the difference (400-195 = 205) put into a "members loan fund". But she would still need to repay the full 400 (+5% fee) = 420. This might seem a strange approach but it would mean that on the next loan she could again borrow a full 400, and the extra 205 she had already paid into the members loan fund would already be there, so she'd receive the 400 and repay 400+5% fee = 420 for her second loan. When she has finished with Zidisha, if she has repayed all her loans off, then she can take the 205 from the members loan fund back out. If she is unable to make repayments on any of her loans, then Zidisha will allow lenders to recoup some of their loan out of that 205 fund.

I suppose the key thing is that if she already has (in this case) 205 to use as collateral, then she could take the higher 400 loan option, and use her existing 205 to help her repay. She can then take full 400 loans thereafter, leaving her 205 as collateral until she has finished with Zidisha.

However if she is short on funds, and can't really afford to make a significant payment into the members loan fund, then she may be better off taking the lower credit limit and perhaps that would appear to be a simpler loan arrangement for her to understand.

      Hope that all makes sense.

As I say, you really ought to send your query to the Zidisha team (via email or the forum) for a full response.

      Regards

      Matt
