I am the last born child in a family of six, five boys and one girl. i was born in shitaho village shirere sub location in 1983 and started my nursery and primary education in 1988 at shitaho primary school where i did my standard eight exams kenya certificate of primary education in 2002. i latter trained as driver and started small scale farming at our home in 2004 i started my business as a bicycle operator in kakamega town i left for the city in Nairobi and after working their for 4 years i went back to kakamega and in 2010 i started my moto cycle business as an operator. i have since grown from being an employee to purchasing my own motor bike, i have developed a big network of clients and the business has really grown. i am married and blessed with four children.
My business starts in the morning where i take children to school and latter transport other business and office workers to their places of work. My services are charged at ksh.50 ($0.5) to and from town, i make an average of ksh. 700 ($7) per day and spend about Ksh.200 ($2) per day on fuel this gives me an average net of Ksh.500 ($5) per day. with the profit i am able to meet all my basic necessities and pay my other bills.
i would like to pay for the national hospital insurance fund (NHIF) cover three month installment this will ensure my family is covered and they can access medical services plus medicine from government appointed facilities. The NHIF monthly installment is Ksh.500 $5 and the loan amount will help me pay for three monthly installments.
Despite the tough economic challenges and the restriction in movement especially public vehicle transport the motorcycle transport industry has registered a steady increment in terms of customers who prefer the motorbike than the matatu vehicles, majority of the customers believe their is less conduct in the motorbike compared to the vehicles, these has increased my daily income and it will enable me service the loan with ease.
