About Me

I was born 40years ago, in Misori Village, Usenge Sub-Location, West Yimbo Ward, of Siaya County. I went to school in 80's and Mid 90's. After my high school I joined my uncles in fishing business which I did for half a decade. I made enough savings from fishing which I used to start a barber shop which I operate to-date besides owning few boats that supplements my earnings and providing food for the family.
I am married and am blessed with two children, am a Christian and God fearing man. I want to start poultry farming to supplement my earnings, with this i will supply both broilers and eggs to the market for sale, and i hope this will give me extra cash to pay the loan with much ase.

My Business

Having been brought up within Lake Victoria region, I joined fishing industry immediately after high school. I then used my savings to start a barber shop which I run alongside owning a fishing vessel. Both businesses face various challenges. The fishing industry requires a lot of human resource as much as financial, the fishing gears needs frequent repairs and upgrading for a better catch. The barber shop business has gone digital with customers demanding better services, latest styles, head/ neck massage and hair treatment as well. All these requires reliable source of income to maintain the business to customers satisfaction. I have improved my businesses by upgrading fishing gears and shaving materials, keeping the environment clean and attractive while maintaining customer relations.
Jointly I earn an average of $675 per month. My total bill costs $222, my salary $205. As a Christian I pay 10% tithe to the church ($68), I use $145 for upgrading the businesses and $35 for emergency. From my salary I save $15, and spend further $147 in paying school fee and meeting other family obligations (such as food, clothing, and basic health care). The remainder is my entertainment; I will use part of this money plus some savings and surplus from increased proceeds to repay the loan.
I want to put up a modern barber shop increase the number of machines and human resources, increase the number of vessels and fishing gears as well. I believe with Zidisha as my financial partner the sky is the limit.

Loan Proposal

Poultry keeping is a viable farming business where you buy day old chicks, keep them for a month then they start laying eggs. Due to the demand for eggs I will supply the shops and families within. I will also sell boilers to ready market for meat. I want to start poultry keeping to supplementing my barber shop business; I will let my wife take care of the poultry while I look after the barber shop. After a moth the layers will be ready for laying eggs and this will enable have additional funds from the sale of eggs and broilers for meat. I hope this will help me pay my loan weekly without any difficulty.
I will first construct a simple poultry house which will cost $100; I will then buy twenty chicks ( ten layers and ten broilers) at $8; I will use $25 for the poultry feed and another $ 10 for treatment; the balance $7will be transportation.
