About Me

I was born and grew up in Siaya County where i was able to attain both my primary and secondary school education. In 2007 i went to the capital city(Nairobi-Kenya) for college studies. Being that i came from poor family, i was forced to rethink of other sources of finance to facilitate my basic needs. I searched for part time employment but in vain. Its at this moment that i decided to engage in an income generating activity. Because of inadequacy of funds, my studies came to a halt. This is when i decided to venture in beauty industry which progressed well until the post election violence which resulted to my business being burnt down. I thereafter decided to go back home(Siaya) where i have started up beauty shop again(Kinyozi&Salon) . Currently I'm a single mother of two and entirely depends on my business as a source of income. Above all im a born again child of God who fully believes in Him and serves in our church(Living faith International a.k.a Winners Chapel-Siaya Kenya)

My Business

Initially i had a beauty shop where i sold beauty products to college students. However because of the fist loan i received from Zidisha, i've seen my business grow hence have ventured into a retail shop. In the 3years time, i see my retail shop to a wholesale. So currently, i ran two shop within the same location.
In my shopi sell household items such as sugar, cooking oil, flour, airtime, seats for hire e.t.c. The goods i sell are of demand since they are used in day to day's basis. I chose on this business mainly because of the demand for the commodities around this place yet people walk a far distance to find a shop. The population here is also high being that there are two colleges, a hospital and residential houses being constructed around.
Typically, my costs are kshs.25,000(rent 15,000, electricity 5000, security 3000 miscellaneous 2000)per month and my revenue is at kshs.approximately 50,000/=. I use my profits to pay my house rent, clothing, food, school fees for my two children, and my brother who is in high school, electricity bills, water bills, expansion of the business, and support my mother who is widowed and also at times to take my children out for their picnics.

Loan Proposal

I intend to buy a refrigerator worth 500 dollars. This means therefore that iwill some money to the loan i will receive. The fridge will help me preserve the perishable commodities that i also sell in the shop. I will also use it to cool soft drinks for my clients. To me it will be of much help as I've been loosing customers who wants cold drinks that currently i don't have. Secondly ,I've not been able to sell commodities that require cooling hence with this it will be of much help. I will also save my customers who not need tow walk long distances to get the services they require.
I expect to increase my profits because currently i do not give these services to my clients who have shown thier demand for the same.

I was able to buy a fridge to help me cool my perishable goods. The fridge enabled me to be able to sell some of the goods i was not selling before. Due to this my profits drastically increased by a margin of kshs 10,000 per month. This has helped me a great deal.
I used the increased profit to pay my childrens school fees, pay my bills, and reinvest into my business.
To my family, it has been a sign of relief and a positive change. I was able to buy a plot where i shall be constructing my house and move away from a rental house. This will lower my expenses.
Ive also been able to take my children a picnic something i never did before.

To all my lenders, thank you so much again for trusting and believing in me. Thanks for your money lent to me. I will use the money to increase my stock for cooking oil, wheat flour and maize flour at my retail shop. Halloo to all my Zidisha Lenders,
My heartfelt gratitude again comes to you. Surely you have put a smile in my face. The destiny that seemed shut now becomes bright day by day. I know im so much indebted to you but i cannot reward you. Its my prayer that God rewards you abundantly. Just to let you know that ive completed repaying the loan i was given.
I was able to stock my retail shop with some commodities thanks to the money i received from you. this has greatly impacted in my business because the has always been there to serve my clients. In return, my earnings have also increased steadily.
I have used my earnings majorly for restocking and payment of my bills.
An achieved that ive witnessed in my children is a positive change in their education. I was able to transfer them from a public school to a private school where now they get quality education. I was also able to take them for picnics something that isadream come true to us.

Hi, is there any news of George Odera, whom you invited? He is a long way behind with his repayments, and he is not replying on the discussion board. Please can you talk to him and ask him to get in touch with Zidisha to sort his payments out.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

Hi Madam Wendy. I'm sorry for the late response towards your comment. I was able to talk to him and he shared with me some of the predicaments. As a friend im obligated to help him out, because this is the true meaning of friendship. Is there anyway i can help him repay his dues as he waits for his business to pick up in this rainy season.

        Hello Maureen,
I have looked at George's profile page.... What surprises me is that he has only adjusted the repayment once (from $15 to $4 last year). Since then it has remained at that level.
I suggest you encourage him to reschedule, to an amount, however small that he will be able to pay.
        Good luck.

First and foremost, I want to appreciate the Zidisha community. For sure, the loan came unexpectedly, i.e. it was funded sooner than expected. It shows the trust you have in me. Thank you all, you have made proud. I lack the right words towards you people, you are just awesome. I'm going to buy a photocopy machine for my retail shop. It will lead to expansion of my enterprise as I expect to have increased income. The income I have will also enable me to re-invest and to ensure that I make timely repayments for my loans.
Thank you all, may God reward you all abundantly.

I was able to buy a fridge for my shop after adding some money to the amou nt i received. The purchase of this fridge has helped me a great deal. I was able to sell some of the commodities that initially i was not selling. i,e sodas, green vegetables, fruits, ice creams, milk and many more perishable commodities that requires being kept in cool environment.
Ive experienced growth in my enterprise as i serve many customers now with various needs. Due to this, my earnings have also gown up slightly by 5000/= Basically i used it re-invest into my business and repay the loans that i had.
My greatest delight ever was my change in status. For once i took my children for a picnic and also i was able to move to a spacious room
