I am Wilkista Pondo, I was born in 1970 in the Kanyamwa Village of Homa Bay County and I went through my primary education in Mbita. I studied Business Administration in College and graduated with Diploma but I could not get a job, therefore I decided to start a small groceries shop/kiosk to enable me raise money to meet my family obligations.
I have six children and the first born has graduated from High School in 2012 and the last born is in Class Seven. The first born would like to be a Nurse and the last born a Teacher. My children have got big dreams and I always tell them that sky is the limit.
In my free time, I do participate in women economic empowerment activities and visiting the sick in hospital. Mbita community where I grew up, the cultural norms tend to look down upon women but with the new technologies women are starting to mobilize themselves for active participation in development activities. have a voice and aspires to venture into small income businesses, I find this interesting and my background in Information Technology is helping me to reach out to women and mobilize them for active participation in development.
I have been in the business of selling tomatoes for the last two years, I mainly sell to local clients who use the tomatoes for cooking food, schools and other institutions.
I am seeking a loan of US$100 to enable buy moire tomatoes for sale especially now that tomatoes are in high demand due to the rains that have started. I will use US$ 70 to buy 2 cartons of tomatoes , and US$30 will be used to buy assorted fruits like avocadoes, mangoes, paw paw and oranges for sale.
Tomatoes are in high demand, and I look forward to increasing my profits and repaying the ZIDISHA loan on time to enable me get more money for capital development for the business. This is where I get my daily bread and hope with good capital i will expand.
With a Zidisha loan of US$100 , I am going to use US$ 30 to buy assorted fruits that will serve to increase my profit by 30% as fruits are in high demand in Mbita Township.
-US$70 I will used to stock two cartons of Tomatoes that I sell mostly and I have a very big clients base for fresh tomatoes. Kindly lend me because by doing so you will add my profit by 40% hence my living standard will improve and the proceeds from the business will help me educate my children.Thank you
