I am Wilkista Pondo, I was born in 1970 in the Kanyamwa Village of Homa Bay County and I went through my primary education in Mbita. I studied Business Administration in College and graduated with Diploma but I could not get a job, therefore I decided to start a small groceries shop/kiosk to enable me raise money to meet my family obligations.

I have six children and the first born has graduated from High School in 2012 and the last born is in Class Seven. The first born would like to be a Nurse and the last born a Teacher. My children have got big dreams and I always tell them that sky is the limit.

In my free time, I do participate in women economic empowerment activities and visiting the sick in hospital. Mbita community where I grew up, the cultural norms tend to look down upon women but with the new technologies women are starting to mobilize themselves for active participation in development activities. have a voice and aspires to venture into small income businesses, I find this interesting and my background in Information Technology is helping me to reach out to women and mobilize them for active participation in development.
