About Me

I am a hardworking single mom, who has been in the business for the last 2 years after being in employment for the last 5 years. I deal in hairdressing and beauty. I am a focused, honest and highly responsible lady with high business principles and professionalism.

Out of past challenges in life, I always endeavor to remain positive and work smart to attain my both short- and long-term life goals. I am open to learning new ideas and using them to my advantage to succeed in my life. My two lovely kids inspire me to be focused and work hard in my business.

Apart from business, I am an ardent volunteer at a children's home, which I occasionally visit to offer free grooming services and motivate the young ones to lead a positive life. The experiences I share with them are drawn from past experiences. I am also a member of investment clubs, locally known as chamaas, that deal with small-scale traders dealing in table banking. This venture helps small entrepreneurs to save the little money they earn.

My Business

My business niche is basically beauty and more, so I deal with hairdressing. I specialize in braiding, weaving, pedicure, manicure and massaging.

On average my daily sales turnover is Ksh 4,500 ($52). My salon is open six days a week. That translates to Kshs 117,000 ($1, 352). My monthly expenses, including rent, service charges, security, salaries, material costs, electricity and water bills, are on average Ksh 85,000 ($988). Thus, I make an average of Ksh 32,000 ($372). With additional capital, I will be able to purchase a dryer that will help my income increase by 15%. This will enable to pay back the loan, earn more cash and expand my business.

My business is quite profitable. I have managed to build a wide customer base that ranges between middle class and high class income earners. Most of my customers are foreigners who work with diplomatic institutions that are based in the capital city of Nairobi.

My strength is derived from my expertise in hairdressing that I have accumulated over the years. This has helped to have a constant customer flow.

My weakness: My finances have not been able to let me expand my business: the area where operate requires a lot of money to get additional space to expand my business.

My opportunities include a wide target market that lives within the Nairobi West Area and has money to spend.

My threats: There are a number of salons that keep emerging within the business center so as to compete for the available large market. With additional capital I will be able to buy more salon equipment and be able to serve my ever-growing clientele better.

Loan Proposal

I intent to buy an additional hair drying machine that costs between 11,000Kshs and 15,000Ksh( $128 and $174). I will add to other two dryers I have. This dryer will give me an additional revenue on the lower side of Ksh. 1,000 that is an average of $11. The dryer will pay back the loan and leave with a comfortable earning.

I have tried my best to call this member to pay up her loan but it seems no progress since all of her promises have not been fulfilled. Kindly, let the Mentor take it up and reach out to the referees to compel her to pay, that is the best I can do. Thanks

I mentioned earlier that I have not been feeling well, and this has affected my business. I tried to reschedule my loan but the button for reschedule was not available. I am back to my business and I will immediately resume my payments. Going by my past records, you can freely confirm that I was on time with my payments if it was unforeseeable circumstances I could have been through with my payments. Thank you for your support and understanding.

    Kind Regards

I have been sick and in hospital, this made it difficult as my business I have been closed all this time. Since I have recovered God-willingly I will be opening my business this week. Thus, I will be able to comfortable pay Kenya Shillings 1,500 ( US$ 17). I hope the lenders will be able to understand this as I have been regular with my payments when my business was on and operating without any hitch.
