About Me

Am charming guy born in Central part of Kenya; raised from a very humble background has not deterred me from being whom I am today. I remember many times my mom used to tell me how life can be sweet if I work hard. Not once we went without food but something I was assured is my life would change at any time. I used to go school bare-footed; lol! We come from far like soil from borehole. Regardless of all that I used to shine in school and emerged the best; I got a sponsor who volunteered to pay my school fees. I was in the best school in my county (Muranga High School). I also shined in High school and got grade A- .Am currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Architecture besides business. Pursing architecture in Kenya is not easy due to various expenses; that is lots of printing that needs cash. Am currently in fifth year; meaning a tough journey has been moved. It reached to a point I was almost dropping to lack of funds to pay for my projects. I had to think very fast and that's how i borrowed fifteen thousand Kenya shillings from a friend and started my small business. I now can fund for my projects, pay my bus fare to school and easily place food at the table.

My Business

I am currently selling wheat flour, maize flour, rice, sugar, solid fat, salad oil and soap. Am now a retailer selling to people within Uhuru Market which carries around four thousand people. I target the surrounding hotels within and outside the market. I am intending to be a wholesaler in future. I have already approached flour milling company and they have agreed the offer though i need to give them a deposit which is not easy at the moment since my business is still young. The reason to why I started this kind of business here is because there are so any within with only one other shop so all those people being served by one person the ratio is too big hence the market not flooded. Uhuru market is widely known for clothes hence no its hard someone to have this kind of idea. All concentrate with clothes. The best thing with foodstuff is that everyone needs food hence they have to buy. Besides that there are several restaurants within the market and I have gotten some of them as my clients. The reason to why I want to concentrate with hotels is because they have cook on daily basis hence no day can pass without me selling. Outside the market there are several restaurants too in Bahati, Mbotela and Maringo Estate. All I need is to buy a bike so that i can manage to supply to them too. As I stated earlier I have approached both Mombasa millers and Mumias Sugar Company who have agreed to release their products to my shop. By so doing I will be in a position to serve the shops in the neighboring Estates since there is no shop that deals in bulk. By so doing they will be relieved the burden of going all the way to Eastleigh to buy goods. This will also ease their cost of transport.

Loan Proposal

Am intending to add three and a half bales of wheat flour, two bales of maize flour and twenty five kilogrammes of rice. This would cost around 100 Us dollars. By so doing I will not have to add stock on daily basis as I do which will reduce my tranport costs.

Please can you contact Zidisha to arrange a lower weekly installment. That is better than letting yourself get behind with your payments, which can make it harder to get another loan. You can increase your installments again when you have more money coming in. Zidisha is very helpful and wants you to succeed rather than struggle!
    God bless you,
    Wendy

First, let me thank the Zidisha team for their continued support; the patience is more than any other financial organization in the whole sphere of the universe. Am very sorry for any inconvenience I have caused to anyone. I will resume back to making my payments in a short while. The inconvenience is highly regretted. I have had issues, but I am trusting God and I also am working to correct any errors in my business. I will not rest until I have uploaded the last coin owed to Zidisha lenders. You are of great help to me; words cannot express it enough.

Hello Daniel, can you get in touch with Zidisha to reduce your payments to a more manageable level? That is better than letting yourself get behind with your payments, which can make it harder to get a future loan.
    God bless you,
    Wendy

I had to go through a process of getting the health documents before I could handle milk, as the health officers insisted. They forced me to stop after two days. The health letter was delayed so much, which is what has made the start of the milk business a mess. But this January, they finally gave me the letter. I started the business on the 7th.

May God bless you so much and give you more in abundance not just for yourselves but also so that you can continue to be a blessing to many more. I am very happy. Now, I can venture into the milk business without any hiccups. Once again, God bless you.

One key element to growth I have learnt through my business is giving back to society. When I started this business, all I needed was money for my upkeep, but it also has helped me to realize that now I am able to feed even the person next to me, too. For the last two months, I have been packing foodstuffs enough to feed a single family for at least one month. God is faithful; every time I pack, I tell Him to send the owner of the package and He sends people I have no idea about. My mission is to start a group home for kids in the future, but before that I have started a feeding programme already. And besides that, I have set aside Sundays to spend time with those neglected by society, by showing them love. This is but the little I can afford, plus the words of encouragement. I have tried to help even drug addicts, HIV+ victims and others, to let them know that they still have a purpose to accomplish on this Earth. I believe that before I go to my grave, my mission will accomplished, which is transforming the lives of many.

    To my lenders,
Thank you very much for your big hearts. I can say that the Daniel you met is no longer the same. As I said earlier, I am no longer operating on a small table, but have expanded to the extent of securing my own space. God has given me enough favour before men - and by so doing, my customers increase in number on a daily basis. I serve them without running out of stock. I still have my vision of becoming a wholesaler. Once again, a big thank-you, and God bless you.
