Am from a family of two and am the last born.Am also a student at the university of Nairobi but that does not keep me from my passion that is farming.I started farming in 2003 that's a strong eleven years and going strong.Stared out with two rabbits whose number grew very fast hence I had to look for a stable and reliable source of food for them.Carrots were the definite choice so I got the money from my mother. After the four months I got a very high yield which enabled me to feed my rabbits and sell the surplus which was enough to buy me my first bicycle. From there the rest is history. If i could get that much from carrot what about other crops?was the question lingering in my mind.As time has gone by i have focused on tomatoes, cabbage and capsicum.
My business is agribusiness where I have specialized on capsicum, cabbages and tomatoes.Farming is all about the more the input the higher the yield hence a larger income. My incurred cost are:
fungicides and pesticides- $54.94
Net sales -$550.07
Water and transport are the main challenges.Water is a challenge since it s available but watering the plants is using a watering can is quite tiresome, hence use a lot of labour.Transport is an issue since i do not own my own means of transport hence i have to settle for public means which are expensive.
Due to the high rains expected I need the loan to buy more seeds for my farm in order to maximize on the rains.the cold weather will also attract fungal disease(powrdly mildew, down mildew) so I need to be prepared with fungicide and also protect my current capsicum crop from pest(thrips, white flies).my budget will be as follows
seeds (maize and beans) $28.8831
My success depends on your kind contributions so help me out.
