About Me

I come from the Rift Valley province, Laikipia county here in Kenya. I finished my form four in 2004 and joined a public university in 2006-2010. And am now freshly training for a job in building services and design. I earn a steady income of Ksh 30000 per month gross pay. Minus rent, bus fare and other expenditures this does not amount to much as well as for the future ahead.

My Business

During school breaks and holidays I used to utilise my parents 2 acres of land by planting a perimeter of cypress trees. Now they are quite big and I was able to push my parents to put a side a 1/4 acre part which I filled with the trees. I own more than 1000 tree on the farm now. Hard to calculate but with closure of government forests private forestry is very profitable plus the good benefits to our environment. I would love to buy equipments to help prune this trees during the December break. I promise to repay promptly.

Loan Proposal

With financial support I will buy 200 passion fruit seedlings, At home my parents practice zero grazing and thus manure collection is no hustle. Passion fruits are climbers, I will use posts and sticks from my own trees to support them as they grow. Preparing the land will be with already available tools and casually hired tractors. I bought a good hose(from my previous loan) to irrigate in case of dry spell.

I have observed from existing few plants of this fruit on the our farm and seen their good performance. Each plant can yield more than 150 healthy fruits. per season Each retails at Ksh 10. Selling at whole sale price of say Ksh 4 per fruit each plant can give Ksh 600 and thus the whole lot about gross amount Ksh 100, 000.00.

I personally supervise the whole process and give timely reports and my God provide success.

Yeah, actually I spoke with her last week. She promised to finish her repayment soonest. Maybe by endmonth. I do not understand what is this spirit of non repayment.. Mostly they say its labourious to post updates and repay weekly..This is the best community after microfinances and banks.. I wish I had an answer.

Using the loan I have been able to plant more than 150 passion seedlings. The loan was a welcome supplement to my project. On our farm we have an average water well about 30feet deep. I intend to upgrade an existing borehole/well plumbing fixtures to facilitate irrigation during dry weather breaks. This will cost about 1000 Ksh. And thanks to Zidisha I have my dreams rolling.

This is just the beginning later i will have to buy pesticides and sprayer pump, foliage fertilizers so that my plants are healthy and productive. These will cost not less than 5000 Ksh, but a step at a time and I wont crumble.

My parents are happy with the progress much as Iam to see that which we missed(financial access without collateral) has been coupled with my finding a beginners job. I hope to do the best and God bless the work of my hands.

Using the loan and with the onset of the planting season, I have been able to lay manure in the ditches, bought 150 passion seedlings and already starting to put down them one by one. The loan was a welcome supplement to my project.

On our farm we have an average water well about 30feet deep. Soon I intend to upgrade an already dying boreholewell pump to facilitate irrigation during dry weather breaks. This will cost about 18000 Ksh. And thanks to Zidisha I have my dreams rolling.

This is just the beginning later i will have to buy pesticides and sprayer pump, foliage fertilizers so that my plants are healthy and productive. These will cost not less than 5000 Ksh, but a step at a time and I wont crumble.

My parents are happy with the progress much as Iam to see that which we missed(finacial access without collateral) has been coupled with my finding a beginners job. I hope to do the best and God bless the wrk of my hands.

I have had to incur extra living expenses as I assisted my only sister to accommodate safely from my house to a place near her work place. With sincerity i hope to make this small installment on time this week plus that which I postponed during the expense period.

A happy 2015 really it is. During the holidays I did a clean prunning on my trees. Thanks to Zidisha. Now my trees can grow stronger and beautiful. I could not get a good photo while up the shaky tree. 2015 has presented challenges to farmers in our county after an out break of necrosis attacking cereals crops. The county advises on alternative farming and I was already on a small project on passion fruit farming. These are hardy crops and yield well both in product and farm gate prices. I need some cash to buy quality seedlings from KARI each @ KSH 30. I will inter crop among the young trees and use cypress posts and rafters(from my pruning waste) to support the vine. Farming is tricky but I expect to give positive progress within 2 months of planting as this plant is very vigourous.
