About Me

I grew up and schooled in Nyeri. After high school I went to college where I studied tailoring and dress making then got married and had five children. My husband later passed on and currently I live with my five children. I dream of a much better future where I will have a prosperous business, be economically stable and purchase a house of my own. Before I started my current business of bead works and basketry, I used to sell clothes in different towns but had to stop due to asthma which made it difficult for me to travel.

My Business

My business deals in bead works and basketry. I make and sell beaded baskets and trays as well as necklaces, earrings, finger rings and key holders. I also sell Kikoi clothes, Kitenge clothes as well as kanga clothes (wrappers) and sandals. I entered into business in order to be able to provide for my family needs after the death of my husband. My biggest challenge is where I can get more money to improve my business. Most of my customers are gift shops which buy my products on order. However, I also sell at retail prices to individuals. I hope to expand this business in future and start selling to customers outside Kenya.

Loan Proposal

Given the loan with some of my little savings I will buy kikoi clothes, beads, baskets and kanga clothes. Kikoi will cost ksh 5000, beads ksh 1000, baskets ksh 5000 and kanga clothes ksh 3000. The purchases will increase my stock and improve on my sales and profit. This will make the business stable and enable me to be able to meet my basic needs such as more and better food for my family.

    Dear Lender,
The above borrower still remains unreachable but one of the neighbors claims the borrower is having challenges with her business due to heavy rainfalls that rocked the country.I will update once i talked to the borrower myself.

want to introduce some earrings and necklaces so that they can match their whole wardrobe. I also want to introduce some diapers because the mothers are always asking about that when they see the other goods I have. For the beads I use for my jewelry I want to buy them wholesale because they’re less expensive. This will cost me $450 . Thanks so much to all the lenders who have funded me

With the previous loan i added stock of kikois for sale, my profits have really increased as sales have been high in these holidays because most people in my village are at home for the december holidays. Increased number of sales have made my stock to move so fast and for the first time my profits have increased tremendously.
Thanks you all the lenders & zidisha for your support
