About Me

My name is Benson Hongo from Kisumu Korando Village along the Kisumu-Busia road. I am married to one wife Diana Apiyo and we have been blessed with Two children; A boy Taji and a girl Neema. We have also adopted another girl Salma who is my niece but unfortunately was orphaned at a young age.
I stay with my mother who also operates a retail shop.
The kids are in lower primary.
I am a lay reader in our local church and also the current Parish Secretary.
I have plans to train as a Vicar.

My Business

I have ventured into selling Electricals and Plumbing parts, fittings and also offer advice to those who are building. I source for my items both locally and in Nairobi.
The items vary in terms of profitability with the first moving items returning small margins whereas the slow moving items providing decent profits.
My main clients are people constructing houses, those seeking to improve theirs and those doing repairs.
I am still in the marketing stages of the business and creating awareness on the same so that I can have clients aware of my products and services.
Capital has been a great challenge to my business and I have had to rely on family for support.

Loan Proposal

Its an entry level.
I want to use the loan to help restock my shop hence sell more.
It means people dont have to go very far to purchase what they need. It will be conveniently located where they are.
For Now I will buy a Carton of milk that costs $5
It contains 12 packets that retail for $0.5 per that makes a profit of approximately $1 per carton

Thank you Lilian and Joyce for funding my project. I am grateful for this. I will use the project money to purchase LED bulbs for my electricals shop and also to stock my Coca Cola issued cooler. I expected my earning to increase by at least 7% despite the tough times.

The Last grant allowed me to purchase LED bulbs and LED Bulkheads
My earnings grew by almost 12% in terms of profits.
As a result, I have been able to pay for swimming lessons for my Grade 3 daughter and its a good feeling.

The LED Bulbs projects is still lucrative.
I was able to support my kids on their holiday practicals with the profits I made from the sale of the bulbs.

The LED bulbs have been a great idea and people have taken in on them because they save energy, last longer are affordable and produce better light.
The profits have have been used to add more stocks.
I also used part of the proceeds to buy my kids who are in primary school sewing kits for their Home Science practicals.

Thank you very very much for support in financing my project at this point in time. I intend to use the funds to purchase LED bulbs including colored bulbs which are on high demand. My area has many houses currently being connected to electricity and there is a high demand for bulbs and electrical accessories

    Hi everyone
I was able to purchase LED Bulbs for my shop at a very affordable cost price and turn them over for a profit. My customers were impressed with my business idea since I supplied them with quality bulbs at a very good price as compared to what was previously available.
The profits from the sale allowed me to stock up on more bulbs and this time a larger variety.
I also expect to add a few floodlights since they have very good margins.
More homes are connecting to electricity and this means that a market for bulbs will always be there

Thank you so much for funding my project.
My business plan is to purchase 45 assorted AC LED bulbs with a price range of between $0.5 to $1 and retail them at approximately $1.5 and the margins on returns will help me purchase more stocks.
Much appreciated for the support accorded to me.
Thank you dlpringle, Thank you Damaris, Thank you Anonymous

I ventured into a new line of business where I buy and sell firewood, building poles and used iron sheets. I has come at such a good time when people around here are upgrading their houses so supply is good and many institutions are looking foe firewood.

Zidisha has really come through for me. For example I can now afford to buy items in cash for resale.
I have recommended Zidisha to many individuals who trade as I do.

Thanks for accepting to fund my loan.
I will use the funds to increase the capacity of my shelves since what I have are smaller and the balance I will use to increase inventory.

It has been a while ever since I took a loan through Zidisha. I was working on a system where I could give the business more of my time.
Finally its possible. I spend more and more time at my shop and this will see the number of clients visiting grow and translate into good returns
I hope to count on your support through this period.
