About Me

My name is Felister Ndinda. I am married with 6 children – 2 sets of twins and 2 other children. I was born in Makueni County in Kenya and went to school and reached class six. My father did not have money so I stopped going to school at an early age and got married. I was later taught to use computer in our church.

My husband is a truck driver and he used to ferry goods to South Sudan until late last year when a war broke out in that country. He has not secured another job as yet and I am the sole bread winner of the family for now. This has made my business very crucial to the upkeep of the family and I am trying all I can to expand it so that it gives more income.

I have done this business for three years and I have no regrets because it brings food on the table. It has also allowed me to meet many people who give me ideas on social life and financial matters.

My Business

I sell groundnuts to people who reside in Mombasa town. I normally target school children and office workers. I sell them in small packets of different sizes ranging from 20grams to 100grams. Since I got my first loan with Zidisha, I make about $20 per day leaving me with a net of $10. I use this money to keep the business going and also for our household expenses.

I was introduced to Zidisha by my friend who told me he has benefited a lot from this organization and he thought I could also benefit the way he did. I am very excited about it and I am hoping to be funded soon so that I can start my business expansion. I have always dreamt of running a big business where I would be able to supply my products to big stores like the malls and supermarkets. I believe this is now a reality with the help of Zidisha.

Loan Proposal

If I am funded, I will spend it to get a license from Kenya Bureau of Standards (this is the body that sets standards) at $110, get a bar code at $70, buy 3 sacks of peanuts a total cost of $150. I will spend the rest to buy cooking oil and packaging materials.

All these items are necessary for me to successfully serve my new client. This is a chance of a life time that I don’t want to miss. Please be part of this dream by making your contribution.

So glad to hear you still expanding your snack business, and sorry about the raise in licenses!

First of all, I wish to thank you for giving me the loan. The money came when I needed to do expansion of my snacks business and it has helped me cover about 80% of my budget. My budget went up significantly after the government increased the cost of licenses. For this reason, I am working very hard to raise the balance so that I can embark on the work that I intended to do. I am directing almost all my income in raising this money and I am requesting you to allow me to pay KES 150 per week until I solve this issue.

    Thank you.

I have decided to increase my weekly repayment because I recently got an order to supply a supermarket with my products. This has increased my income significantly but I also need to invest much more to cope with the huge volumes of peanuts I am supposed to supply.

My intention is to clear this loan within a short time and hopefully get another one soon to give me a good start in this new promising venture.
