About Me

My name is Kazungu Chandugui, I'm a father of three children.I live in a nuclear family here in Mtwapa and also a businessman here in mtwapa as well..My wife, children and I stay in a rented house. The children are all schooling in a private school so that they acquire quality education which is my most wish..I dwell in Mikanjuni Mtwapa next to The Imara Academy. If you board a matata from Mombasa town you alite at The LAMBADA RESTAURANT stage,Mtwapa center.Take a motorbyke(boda-boda) tell him to drop you at The IMARA school which is in the west of the restaurant,it is two kilometers away from the LAMBADA stage to the school(IMARA SCHOOL)My house is just opposite the school gate.I started this business so as to meet my family needs. its a good business because in a month i get an income of ksh 25,000 With this amount i pay my house rent, ksh 2,500, i pay school fees ksh 2,500,food and other family requirements,i use ksh5,000,ksh,5,000 is used to pay the shop's rent. and save ksh 10,000. Risks in this business is like, late payments, sometimes am paid late by my clients making it hard to purchase materials hence delaying other orders. My vision is to see my business grow and that is the main reason i decided to come to zidisha for rescue.

My Business

My business is tailoring design. I design all types of lady's and men's wear.My services are , designing all types of clothes. and also repair and mend old clothes as well. My business is situated along the Mombasa Malindi major road. This an area with a high density population.I serve the mtwapa town and also people from the outside.Am a class eight dropout, i never got the opportunity so go to a secondary school because of the poverty in my family even after doing well in my KCPE exam. The demand of my business is high mainly because its an obvious market business. People here go with design and prefer new designs and being a designer i get the best opportunity to trap them. It's a profitable business i can say, because in a good month i make a minimum income of ksh 25,000 after my expenses.I have risks in my business, like when it rains the business is affected because we experience low income. I use kh 5,000 to pay for my business's place rent because i operate my business on a rented shop. I also use ksh5,000 to buy food for my family., ksh 2,500 i pay for my residential rent and ksh 2,500 goes to my children's school fees.I save ksh 10,000 per month. With this i can use to pay my loan.

Loan Proposal

Thank so much for approving my loan application. I want to see my business growing and in this i want to use this loan to add more stock to my business. With this loan i will buy the latest design materials which are now in market and in great demand. Am certain that this will add more value to my business.

Hi Lenders! My name is Kevin Zeigler and I am one of the Kenya Country Liaison's at Zidisha. We received a message from Kazungu today saying that a family member of his has passed away that he was caring for during the last year.

We are working with Kazungu to help him reschedule his loan and begin repayments when possible.

    Thank you!
    Kevin

      Kevin:

What happened with this loan? Is hard to imagine how a person can get a loan stop paying and getting away with no consequences,

I am a VM. I phoned Kazungu today 11.18am. Kazungu is not reachable on phone. I contacted his brother, Garama, who says its been long since they met. His community leader, Rose, says Kazungu last met her when signing for him the recommendation letter. However I have requested his brother to pass the message that Kazungu needs to communicate with zidisha and start repaying.

      Mr. Shehi,

Let's hope Mr. Chandugui gets the message, otherwise, this might be one more loan for further (police) investigation.

      Thanks,
      Cris

    Zidisha,

Can you please check up on this loan? I have left both Mr. Chandugui and his VM messages, but have not heard back from either one.

Mr. Chandugui is over 2 months in arrears for a total of $243. He has not communicated with his lenders since his loan was funded and has not responded to any messages since then.

    Thank you,
    Cris

    Kazungu,

Could you give us an update on you and your business? You are nearly 2 months in arrears and we have not had any updates, nor have you rescheduled your loan.

Please keep in mind that lenders tend to be very flexible as long as they are kept informed.

    Thank you,
    Cris

      Dear Kazungu,

We received an email on our Service account about the same issue, which I have also replied. But I figured it would be useful to reply here as well. You are more than welcome to complete your loan payments ahead of time - I saw on our records you made a really large payment on October 4. The earlier you complete payments on your loan, the less interest it will accrue. The increase in the interest you are paying is a natural consequence of rescheduling to extend the payment period of your loan. I'm afraid we can't modify that. You have about 4 installments left on your loan to complete payment. Like I said, making payments as early as possible will help you accrue less interest.
Please let us know if you have other questions or concerns. We are glad to hear business has improved for you.
      Sincerely,
      Analin Saturria McGregor
      Country Liaison Manager at Zidisha

Hello, i have decided to change the grace period due to the arrangement of my business. I resumed late after i had closed the business for three months as i did not have a sewing machine, thanks to zidisha for enabling me to buy a new machine. So i will be ready to start paying by then. Thank you so much for this opportunity.
