In am a Kenyan citizen aged 25 years. I am a business entrepreneur with a degree in Business Management from Egerton University and a holder of various other academic credentials. I have also enrolled for a Master’s program from the same University which I hope to start as from January next year. I am highly skilled in and experienced in the filed of entrepreneurship having been exposed to various entrepreneurial organizations in which I was previously attached. I worked as a sales representative in a busy organization and gained a lot of sales skills and tactics which have highly been impacted in the growth of my current business enterprise. I am an outgoing person with very good communication and social skills and interacts well with people from different walks of life.
I am a resident of Nakuru town in Nakuru County of Kenya living in one of the superb estates within the town. I have been in business for five years now having started as a small scale trader way back in the year 2008; a business which I have so far developed and transformed into a well-to-do enterprise. At the time of its inception, my current business was dealing with purchasing and sale of photocopying papers. With time, I brought on board other services such as computer services and its currently operates as computer technicians and general stationers. I am married with a son who is currently in his pre-primary level of education. My wife works with an NGO within Nakuru town as an accountant. My area of residents is very secure and the environs around which we live is highly agriculturally productive; a factor which has motivated my wife and I to acquire, through lease, a one-acre piece of land for commercial agriculture. We live a very simple life with very minimal expenses and often opt to walk the short distance to and from work in order to save on our costs as opposed to taking a cab. We live in a rental house for which we pay US $ 50 (Ksh 4,500) each month.
My business does amazingly well and has grasped a reasonably proportion of the market share over time. It currently yields a net profit of US $ 250 (Ksh 22,500) every month. I have two employees who are in charge of marketing and financial operations of the business. I am fully in charge of management of the business; a role which I have always played very well. I only seek to advance to greater levels and reach out to other markets within the country and possibly across the boarders. With the change of government, devolution and other advancements both in the legal sector and in the trade industry, business has only been made better, easier and more profitable and we are looking forward to more better things. Personally, as an entrepreneur, I am very optimistic that such schemes as Zidisha will only reach us to greater heights and help us achieve our goals as individuals in the business world.
My business is located in Nakuru town CBD and has been operated for five years within the area. At the time of its inception, the business was dealing with purchasing and sale of photocopying papers. With time, I brought on board other services such as computer services and it currently operates as computer technicians and general stationers. The main products that the business deals in include printing and photocopying papers of different kinds, binding materials, books and other stationery. The business also sells and repairs computers both laptop and desktop computers although this is still done in small volumes due to inadequate capital for the purchase of branded computers for re-sale. Alongside these, other services offered include printing, scanning, photocopying and binding services. I have managed to attract and retain a large numbr of customers over the time which i have operated the business. This has been made possible by the high levels of discipline which have always been maintained within this business, good customers relations and the high quality of goods and services offered by the business. My major customers include schools and other learning institutions, churches, individuals, companies and other organizations using computers for various applications. The business sells stationery on special order to schools and institutions including course books, revision papers and examination materials. Bibles and other inspirational materials are sold to churches, individuals and other organziations. The business offers after sale services such as giving free installation of programs and free transport for bulk purchase of computers and other stationery. The business yields average profit margins and has acquired a reasonable market share within its area of operation courtesy of the quality of services and products offered. This has enabled it to survive despite the stiff competition from other similar businesses. My business does amazingly well and has grasped a reasonably proportion of the market share over time. It currently yields a net profit of US $ 250 (Ksh 22,500) every month. I have also been able to plough back my profits and drive the business to higher levels which has also contributed to its rapid growth and expansion within a short time. The previous loan which was advanced to me by ZIdisha Team enabled me to achieve most of my business dreams and aspirations. I was able to buy more stock in my computer services business. I will use this loan to buy more computers for internet browsing that will cost KSh 10,000. I will use KSh KSh 5,000 to buy reams of printing papers which are on high demand in the area and KSh 23,000 to buy commercial photocopying machine since the existing one cannot adequately meet the high demand for the photocopy services within my business area. I also get tenders from schools and churches and I need two photocopying machines in order to serve my customers satisfactorily. I am so grateful to Zidisha Inc. Thank you very much.
