About Me

I am Winifred Boamah, a Ghanaian and a graduate in Swahili and Political Science. I am from a family of eight and the oldest of my siblings. Am currently doing my national service at University of Ghana, Legon-Accra. I love to learn other languages because I believe language breaks all forms of barriers and the limited number of languages one has acquired determines his or her limitation in the world.

I am a young lady who is aspiring to become an entrepreneur in order to contribute to the socio-economic development of my community and encourage and support new start-ups in my Region and Ghana has whole.

My Business

My small-scale business is basically about the buying and selling of Kente Clothes. Kente cloth - has its origin with the Ashanti Kingdom, and was adopted by people in Ivory Coast and many other West African counties. It is an Akan royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings. Over time, the use of kente has become more widespread due to the prestige attached to it hence increasing the demand for the cloth. However, its importance has remained and it is held in high esteem with Akans as well as Africans in the diaspora.
As a business strategy,I sell out my Kente Clothes to individuals, students, and government workers at a relatively lower prices and this has attracted a high demand for my goods.
Despite the high demand for my Kente goods, I am financially challenged and would like to use this platform for a loan to expand my Kente business.

Loan Proposal

When I get this fund from lenders, it will help me improve my business in the following ways; due to the daily introduction of wide variety of kente designs, this loan will help me buy 3 new designs of kente cloth which costs $150 in order to increase my customers' choice and also help my business to survive in the business competition. This loan will apparently expand my business and also suit the demand needs of my customers. This will indirectly help promote and sustain locally produced goods in general. Lenders should help me because It will help me to expand my kente business within my community and other communities around me.
I will repay this Loan through my earnings so Lenders should kindly support me. Thank You.

      Hi Micheal,
Apologies for my silence so far at Zidisha. I have always been loyal to this communtiy and especially my lenders. I was a victim to the famous June 3 flood that took place in Accra Last Year. On that faithful day, I way returning from the Ashanti region where I normally go for my goods, unfortunately I came into contact with this disaster which took the lives of hundreds of people. Fortunately , my life was spared, however, I lost all that goods I had on me to the flood. I have been strangled with this trauma psychologically and it has been about a year now.
I am now fully recovered and I promised to pay anything I owe my lenders since I just had a new job last month.
May I reiterate that I am very sorry .

I made an investment of 2000gh with the loan and the turn out has not been so encouraging this time due to an unexpected event that cropped up along the line. I am very sorry for not meeting my target but I promise never to fail my zidisha team therefore I wish to apply for a reduction on my installment thank You.

Hi lenders!! It's been a long while.
through your support and help my kente business has been great. Due to the poor network, I wasn't able to make my loan payment on the due date which was 25th of July, instead the network permitted me to do so on the 26th. Please I'm counting on your good office to rectify this. Thank you
