My name is Sampson. I am from the eastern region of Ghana, i like football and music. I have a family of six. I am the first son and this brings some responsibility. I have had education to the tertiary level. i am doing my national service with a textile company here in Ghana. my mother is a dressmaker and my father is a taxi driver. He also has a farm which he takes care of. My other siblings are in school, so i want to add an additional source of income to that of my family. My love for fabrics and dressmaking led me to start a tie and dye business. this is something i learnt from home and picked up skills from other people.
I have a tie and dye textile business. i see a lot of beautiful textiles from my national service work and this motivated me to start. I bought large barrels and filled them with different colours of dye. I then buy large pieces of white cloth from the market. This is tied in varies ways in order to get various designs and then dipped into the barrel of dye. Upon removal and untying the cloth you will have a beautifully designed material which can be used for clothing or other accessories. i started this with my own savings. I started selling by word of mouth and gradually i increased my customers. With the ample investment i can build this into a huge clothing business. i do everything manually but there are machines that can do most of the work and make the finished products more refined and colourful. I sell a yard of cloth for 5 cedis. The cloth i buy from the market costs 60 cedis for 20 yards. It is a very profitable business because Ghanaians appreciate wearing local clothing and foreigners too.
I need this loan to buy more different colours of dye for variety in my tie and dye business. and also purchase additional barrels. I have plenty customers for my clothing and i can sell more attractive designs to them. I want to buy a tie and dye making machine for better work in future. This loan will be pumped into the business to push it up till i am able to afford the machine.
