My name is Morris Gathomi Githinji I was born in 1963 at thaita location ndia, Kirinyaga County I joined kiamutugu primary school and later kirinyaga boys high school for my o levels. After school I joined kerugoya polytechnic for a course in agriculture. From there I worked with various government institutions until 2003. With my savings, I bought a piece of land at Marewa River in the outskirts of Gilgil town where I carry out commercial farming activities up to date. I am married and blessed with 4 children who are all out the nest. i look forward to be a zidisha member.
My daily business is farming. I own a piece of land at the banks of liver marewa which is in the outskirts of Gilgil town. I grow green vegetables, maize, beans, castor seeds, etc apart from growing crops I also keep dairy cattle’s which I currently have 10 heads that produces milk which i sell and for my own domestic consumption. I deal with this kind of farming when I realized there is great demand of these commodities in the nearby town of Gilgil and beyond. I sell my crops at farm gate price to retailers from Gilgil and Nairobi. For the milk I sell to Brookside dairies who normally correct it outside my farm every morning I receive the payments at the end of the month I usually get ksh 45000 after deducting my overheads I am left with ksh 25000. Buyers prefer my farm produce because they are of high quality since I have been doing this for the rest of my life; I have enough skills to produce the same. the only challenge I face is luck a modern spraying machine for crop spraying my produce when growing in the farm. Also luck of a deep freezer to preserve my milk before buyers arrive to collect it. With zidisha platform I will be able to overcome this challenge and hence improve my living standard
Thanks to all my lenders, for this loan i am intending to buy more seed and fertilizer for this planting season. i will spend 150 dollars to buy seed of various crops that i plant in my farm e.g Cabbages, Carrots, Maize, capsicums etc. i am also intending to spend another 100 dollars to buy subsidized fertilizer to boost my crops. the remaining 180 dollars will go to purchasing fodder for my milk cows to boost milk production. by so doing i will be guaranteed to remain in business for the whole season which goes for the next 6 months. it will increase my profits to a better margin, i look forward to your contribution to wards filling my bids in time. Thanks.
