The quality of a child’s education directly contributes to a country’s economic growth through the enhancement of an individual’s skills and earnings potential. Additionally, increased quality primary school education provides skills in literacy and numeracy resulting in a direct impact on poverty and hunger. “Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development.” Kofi Annan. The role of the physical environment can be so important in school settings; that it is sometimes referred to as the third teacher (after parents and teachers). Several Researches has shown that not only do children learn better in the correct settings, but teachers also perform and are motivated more too.
The school hosts over 300 girls and boys ranging between ages of 4-16 years in varying classes from ECDE to grade1-8 and form 1&2 respectively. Moreover, our education program is envisaged to stimulates these cultural changes so that pupils and other vulnerable children from poor slums will be encouraged to go to school and be supported to access some of the basic needs they require in ife i.e. consistently free daily meals to all students learning to strive in securing and providing free uniforms to children whose family cannot afford them; Unfortunately, the structure that should receive the Laboratory and part of form 3, 4 and computer room has not been built; the first 2 classes has been built and hosting 37 students though floors, windows and doors are incomplete and the school has no apparatus equipment’s to support the laboratory sessions with the students.
Am planning to use the loan to upscale my current animals rearing from 15 to 60 for good revenue collections and continue providing social action support to the needy students learning HOYWIK School in Kibera slums. I also intend to purchase the brooding machine for hatching the eggs hence will be able to have more birds for sales.
