About Me

I am a young, energetic lady aged 27 years old married and with one child.I am the second born.My childhood was difficult as my parents separated so my mum had to raise the four of us.She did her very best to take us to school.Discipline for me was key since I was a little girl.My kindergarten teacher at one time came and said she wanted to reward one pupil who had impressed her by the simple etiquette the pupil had.I was shocked when she called me to the front and gave me a gift. She said she was impressed by how I used to greet her everyday in the morning something I learnt that I was the only one who used to do it.I was a disciplined student all through my primary school and hence a good performer academically.I was admitted to one of the best Secondary girls school in Nairobi for my Secondary education.I worked hard all through the four years and I passed my final exam well enough to join the university. My mum couldn't raise all the fee needed for my university education so I stayed back home but I used to tuition some students when they were on holidays.I didn't earn much but I did my best to save.I saved for one year and the proceeds were good enough to start a small business.I started just a simple of making doughnuts.I used to wake up very early to cook the doughnuts. The sales were good as customers fell in love with the tasty doughnuts.I later started to make chapatis..they were so good!at some point I thought people were no longer cooking in their houses as the demand became overwhelming. At this point I decided to employ one young man as a handy man.Business grew and i decided to vventure into real food business and as expected,it didn't dissapoint. My community is full of hard working people so im not really surprised that I became one.My son is now three years old and will be joining kindergarten soon.I want to work so hard to give him the best education that will not only transform his mind but also make him grow into a responsible man.During my free time I go to church as I believe that spiritual nourishment is just as important and I also acknowledge that I have come this far due to God's faithfulness.

My Business

My business is purely food business.Every human need food and that is why it is a basic need. The reason I chose the business was to make life easier for those who are working during the day and are not able to go back home to take lunch or those who leave their homes quite early to avoid traffic hence foregoing their breakfast. My business has meals for breakfast, lunch and also soft drinks like soda.Like any other business, food business has it's good and bad days. The major challenge is competition.Food related items have become so expensive due to inconsistent weather patterns.I spend 40_45$ per day to buy these items and I make a profit of 20_25$ per day though there are some days I make less than that depending on a number of factors e.g. harsh weather. The profits I make are generally to pay rent, school fees for my younger siblings and now my son will be starting school soon.I am also planning to employ one more employee who will be a supervisor as my time at the business will be lumited since I am planning on opening a branch at a nearby estate.

Loan Proposal

With this particular loan,I plan to purchase 3 bales of wheat flour,3 bales of maize flour,10 litres cooking oil, vegetables, cooking pots, cups, plates, forks and spoons. These will cost me upto 250$.with the remaining fifty dollars,I will use to renovate the premises by painting and creating a convenient working area for the kitchen. This will in turn attract customers as the place will look inviting and a high level of hygiene will be maintained.I expect to start making a profit of 15$ and I am hoping it will increase to at least 25$ within the 3rd month of business per day.

Hi Margaret, trust you are well. I am Purity, a borrower on Zidisha. I have seen your input on the Forum regarding payment and that you have relocated. We borrowers on the the forum for borrowers we may not be able to give some answers - but to begin with;-
1)Are you roaming with your old Safaricom Number? The importance of the Registered Number is that it is your ACCOUNT with Zidisha where your repayment is credited.
    2) Although M-pesa has gone global - they are receiving funds sent to Bank Accounts and Western Union for now. I am not sure if one can send money to a Paybill from Abroad. I'll check out and let you know
    3) A while back there was an Option to pay by Card but from the look of things the RAVE option payments issue has many issues pending and still not sorted, so it is not reflecting right now.
    4) Meanwhile, you can raise a Support Ticket from your Zidisha page and explain your desire to pay and the situation you are in.

      1. I am not using my safaricom number.
      2. I don't think i can use paybill number but i would be glad to have the account details i could deposit money to..and i can also use western union.
      3. Let me see if i can get a ticket..
Thanks so much though i really wish there was multiple pay options.

      Kind regards

    Dear Margaret,

I just saw your message on the forum.

Lenders can't help you with that. Only Zidisha's Staff can help you with this request. Although some Staff members also are lenders, most lenders are not on the Staff. To reach the appropriate team of volunteers on Staff (teams are organized according to borrower country), please send in a Support Ticket from the "Help" link in your account. Your Support Ticket will get routed automatically to the correct team. Please note that it can take up to three business days to receive a reply, or longer when we are short-staffed (which we currently are). Thank you, in advance, for your patience.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
    Team Zidisha

Thank you so much lenders for the loan disbursed to me on 27th May 2014.With the money,I was able to purchase a bale of flour, cooking oil(10litres),storage containers, rolling pins and a kneading table. These have helped me a great deal to make the doughnut business a success.I have been able to make on time loan repayments,to save and also to employ two people to lend a hand.It feels great to create employment. My doughnuts are so yummy and you are all invited for a bite.
I'm also excited to share the news that my son will join kindergarten next term and I believe I have saved enough to enroll him in a good school.
Thank you all and God bless Zidisha.
