I am a 25 year old lady; I live with my grandmother in Tema, Ghana. I am the only child of my parents who have both passed away. I have a diploma in marketing. My mother used to have a sewing shop; I developed the interest for fashion at a young age and learnt a lot from her. My love for fashion led me to start a clothing business. I buy local fabric and make clothing and accessories. I use the profits from my business to buy food for the house, take care of my grandmother’s medications and also fend for myself. I am very hard working. I like cooking, singing and dancing. I have plans of becoming a great fashion designer in Ghana and Africa.
I run a clothing business from our home in tema. I started in 2009. I have ten constant clients aside walk-ins. I buy fabrics from local vendors and make clothes and accessories like beads, bangles, scarves, necklaces and earrings. These are very beautiful and attract both local and foreign clients here in Ghana. I spend GH800 a month on pieces of fabric from which i am able to make 20 dresses with matching accessories which include earrings, necklaces and handbags. A set of which sells for GH60, making me a profit of GH400. I will like to expand this business by increasing the number of fabric i buy monthly and also rent a shop in the middle of town. With the high demand for local fashionable clothing and accessories, i will be able to boost my sales and make more profit. With time i will employ someone to help me. I have also developed a link with many local traders who will sell my products in the markets in various towns in Ghana. The dress i am wearing in my profile and purse was made by me.
When my loan is approved, i will purchase additional fabrics for the month and increase the number of clothes and accessories i make. This will increase my sales profit by a good margin. I will gradually keep increasing the number of fabric i buy and thereby increase my sales profit. If i raise a large enough amount of money then i will rent a shop in Osu, the business hub of Accra, to reach more foreign and local clients. I will also have enough clothes and accessories to give to other retailers in other towns to sell my designs. This will send me closer to achieving my dream of becoming a top fashion designer in Ghana. i am looking forward to this loan to help me cater for my grandmother and myself and also to realize my long term dreams. I won’t let you down. Thank you
