About Me

My name is Georginah Anami Mutsotso , I was born and raised in kakakamega county, before I migrated to Busia County. I am the sixth born in my family. We are 8 kids. I went to Mukumu Primary School before proceeding to Mukumu Girls Secondary school. I passed well and proceeded to makerere University for a degree in Economics.
I looked for a job for 3 years and no job seemed to come around, due to high cost of living I decided to do commercial farming to help me raise revenue. With no land to till, I talked to a neighbor who had large truck of land, he agreed to lease me some land near the river and since then I have never looked back. I am a rising star in agriculture.
I come from a bull fighting community, it is always very interesting and I love watching this. Welcome to our land for this great and amazing culture.
My hobbies are watching bull fighting live, watching movies and walking around my tomato farm pruning.

My Business

I am a high value horticultural crop farmer. I always grow kales and tomatoes as the main crops. I prefer these two crops because the demand is high .
The demand for this crops is always very high because the supply is low, the majority of youths doesn't take farming as employment and therefore production is very low.
I choose this business because as an economist I was able to identify the opportunity that existed in this area.
In a month I spend $120 on manure and pesticides, my revenue average is $250-$600 depending on the season. In a good month my profit range is $200.
I use my profits to pay fees for my siblings, pay for my bills and also pay fees for an orphan child my parents adopted.

Hello Georginah, you've been making these very low payments for several months now. Are you able to increase them a little yet, in order to pay off your loan sooner?
    God bless you,
    Wendy

  • Wendy Emlyn    Jun 13, 2016

Please can you contact Zidisha to arrange a lower weekly installment. That is better than letting yourself get behind with your payments, which can make it harder to get another loan. You can increase your installments again when you have more money coming in. Zidisha is very helpful and wants you to succeed rather than struggle!
    God bless you,
    Wendy

Due to poor climatic change no rains in January and this February. It has affected productivity of my kales leading to low production.Though I'm expecting increased production in the few months time once it starts raining or I will decide to use irrigation if the rains delay for a longer period.
