I am Irene Wambui, born and grown up in the coast region of Kenya (Mombasa). I hold a certificate in pharmacy. I am married with two kids, a boy & a girl. After college, I worked with a medicine firm for two years as an employee, and later ventured into business after getting married due to low wages.
Currently, I have a poultry rearing business and it's doing well, going with the way it started. Poultry keeping is a good business but a tricky one because it needs a lot of one's time with birds. My wish is to expand my business and target the bigger market.
As mentioned above, I am a poultry farmer. I normally buy one day old chicks and sell them after four weeks. I keep about 400 birds and I do keep them in two batches so that I sell 200 birds after every two weeks.
This is a profitable venture but it has its own challenges, such as expensive chicken feed and diseases. However, I have surmounted most of these challenges and I am glad my business is doing well. I get a net profit of about USD 200 per month.
With this loan, I will simply focus on adding more stock of my birds. Currently I am raising 400 birds a month and I hope to add first 200 more birds, and then another 200 by the month of April.
Summary of my Loan Proposal:
200 1 day old chicks @ 120 USD
12 Bags of chicken feed @ 300 USD
Other small expenses will be covered by the old stock of birds.
