About Me

Being born and raised in a Kenyan rural setting means that agriculture would part and parcel of your family activities. From this humble beginnings, I pursued studies in the field of finance with intense interest on how to improve our community. Nonetheless, through exposure and experience, it dawned to me that Agriculture gives a perfect platform for one to impact a larger demographic area and thereby achieve the desired development goals at a considerable scale.
The focus here is to raise the living standard of families by increasing the purchasing power of women; who comprise 90% of the work force.

My Business

In the past 3 years I have been able to setup a thriving Eggs Distribution business. This venture is located in the coastal region of Kenya where very few farmers carry out poultry farming hence a I noticed a substantial market for eggs. By managing the logistics involved in Sales and Distribution while fishing for numerous opportunities through a High sense of creativity and Inventiveness, we have achieved notable growth.
The typical costs are transport and labor that take 6.8% of our sales revenue.
The retained profits are directly reinvested in the growing business by steadily increasing stock inventory in-order to meet the ever growing market demand.

Loan Proposal

Obtaining better farm implements will increase our efficiency at the farm. This will enable our women to finish their work load in good time and attend to household chores. The cost of hoes and cutting tools required will cost $15 (Fifteen dollars). Your contribution will be highly appreciated.

Success is our story as so far because our 1 acre of African Bird Eye chilli is doing well. We have observed that our project intrigues neighboring farmers who want to join us in our next phase. Therefore, through this community program, we are looking forward in doing recruitment and eventually forming a co-operative.

    Dear David,

It’s a very nice photo but you should upload that photo here. It might be necessary to reduce the size in pixels because this site doesn’t support large photos.

During your next loan request, please post a photo of yourself at the top of your profile. (This is a Zidisha requirement). The photo needs to clearly show your entire face, preferably smiling, and preferably taken at the location of the project for which you are requesting a loan.

The photo currently in that top spot, you can move to a lower spot on your Discussion page, along with a comment about it for your lenders.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
    Team Zidisha

Excited and ready to change lives is the mood here. The image posted illustrates how we used the previous loan in obtaining a tractor load of the much desired manure for topdressing our chilli crop. In our next post we shall upload an image of the women work with us and whose lives are directly impacted by your collective effort.

It's amazing how the team moral can be elevated once resources become available. We have obtained manure for top dressing and now we are progressing manual weed control. As I mentioned earlier our mantra is to be consistent with Organic Farming Concept.

Having signed up for contract farming of the African Bird Eye Chill, this project has a road map to success. With a work force mainly composed of women this project helps in uplifting families in our rural community.
