Loan Proposal

This Agribusiness Plan is an initiative of young, flexible, talented and open minded Kenyan Youths who have joined hands to take up farming in a large-scale business operation in production, processing, and distribution of agricultural products. Low cereal productivity is a major contributor to food and nutritional insecurity and low household incomes; hence, extreme poverty and environmental degradation. The high costs of machinery and farm operations, agricultural inputs and labour; and high incidences of pests and diseases, are major causes of low and declining yields. Besides, post-harvest produce losses due to poor storage at household and community levels pose a major challenge to food safety resulting in increased food and nutrition insecurity. Inadequate post-harvest handling facilities lead to spoilage and price instability.
Our objective is to increase food productivity, enhance livelihoods and facilitate transformation of the agricultural sector; by turning crops and livestock production into commercially oriented economic activities, for food and nutrition security, increased household incomes and employment creation, while utilizing the natural resources optimally and preserving biodiversity.
Our goal is to enhance generation, dissemination and utilization of client-driven crops and livestock technologies; knowledge and information for promoting increased agricultural productivity; improved post harvest handling; value addition; agri-business and private sector involvement. The ultimate purpose being to address critical value chain constraints; thereby, spur improvement of rural livelihoods and economic growth within Kisumu County.
We have a parcel of land in Ahero that we seek financial aid to develop. It is a 2 acre piece of land in a prime location, 8Km from Kisumu city. We have a title deed, its fenced, with Electricity and a borehole on sight. Our business operation Scope aims to outline that our activities have:
(a) Realistically attainable outputs.
(b) Ability of proposed activities to deliver the outputs and attain the goal.
(c) Technology dissemination and uptake promotion pathways.
(d) Potential for up-scaling and out-scaling the outputs.
(e) Sustainable mechanisms for exploitation of Project outputs

We will use the bulk of the loan to buy equipment for putting up greenhouses since we have a plan to cultivate tomatoes, fruits(Passion, avocado, pawpaw), mushrooms(seeds and cultivation), french beans, Chillies, Onions and rear dairy cows(2) and poultry (broilers and layers).

Hi Zidisha, I am concerned about my loan proposal that I posted yesterday. Since all loan proposals have a 10-day expiry period, mine has already dropped to six days and I only posted it yesterday. Kindly help me understand the logic behind this, thanks.

In line with my projected calculations, I have made my first sale of 50kgs of avocados at a profit margin of 30% already! Since Avocados are rare in the market because of elnino rains that swept most farms, I am now focusing on using my profits to do poultry farming by early next month. Thank you Zidisha!

This are the first batch of avocados I planted in my greenhouse in early February as an experiment. They are doing well. So I added more this March, about 100 plants. The greenhouse helps a lot since Avocado trees like warm ground. Ideally, they should go into the ground from March through June, as advised by my agriculturist. If they go in during the very hot months there is always the risk of sun damage because the trees can't take up water very well when young. I also used 1 pound of actual Nitrogen fertilizer per tree and this is annually. By end of June, the market will be consuming my fruits.

I spent too much money to repair my damaged greenhouse. The left side of the structure was damaged by a falling tree which ripped off the props and cut through the canvas damaging plants and equipment. i have spent over 5000 shillings for the past two weeks putting everything back together and has distabilized my finances. Furthermore I have been transferred to a new work station 500 miles away from my current workplace which would be inconveniencing. Therefore i quitted my job awaiting to join a new company next month. i will boince back with the right repayment in 30 days.
