  Please don't confuse your lenders with the Staff,
  a/k/a the Team (whom you can see here: www.zidisha.org/team).
  Although the two (2) current members of the Staff also are lenders,
  most lenders are *not* on the Staff.

  Another point of clarification is that Zidisha loans do not carry any interest charges, whatsoever. While some lending organizations charge both interest *and* fees, Zidisha charges Fees only. That said, it's unfortunately true that the total amount charged in Fees now is a lot higher than it used to be years ago. That's because there's been too much defaulting, even when the terms were much better.
  
  Keep in mind, though, that your lenders are *not* who set or charge the Fees. Those are set by the Staff, via algorithms they program into the system to calculate what those would be for each loan (it varies). The lenders don't know all of the factors on which those algorithms are based.
  
  Most functions on the platform occur automatically, according to algorithms programmed into the system (which, as I mentioned, is done by the Staff, not by the ordinary lenders).
  
  Lenders upload some of their own personal household money to the platform to help fund loans for whichever borrowers they choose from the "Browse Projects" section. The Zidisha system deducts (withholds) the Fees and sends the Net Disbursement to the borrower. Zidisha then collects the installment payments from the borrower and sends that money back into the lenders' accounts. The lender can use the repaid money to re-lend it to the same or another borrower in the future (or any lenders who chose a withdrawable lending account can withdraw their money and not lend again).
  
  I hope this helps you understand better some more about the Zidisha platform.
