My name is Risper Mwikali, born in Kitui County Kenya. I was born in a family of 4 where I am the second born and the only girl in the family. Kitui is a hardship area and much neglected by the government since it is a semi arid area with very few resources. I grew up in this environment into adulthood where I decided to relocate to Mombasa to live with my elder brother while looking for greener pastures.
With help from my brother and parents, I enrolled for a hairdressing course in Mombasa where I was trained for one year. I got a job thereafter and I started saving to start my own beauty parlor since that was dream all along.
With my savings, I was able to open my own place three years ago and I am still running the business. I am a mother of three children and I work very hard to provide good education for them (they are all in school) and secure their future.
My business deals with beauty where I serve ladies who like to look good. I do haircare and associated beauty work such as pedicure and manicure. I normally target the working people since they have some money to spend on their hair and bodies.
The business is doing well currently since I am able to serve my loyal clients as well as winning ones. I make a profit of about $200 per month which I use for my family's upkeep.
I will buy lotions and hair gels which I use a lot on my clients. I will buy them in bulk which is much cheaper than buying single pieces. This way I will save a lot of money and it will also be convenient for me since I wont keep going to the stores to buy them.
This loan will give my business the much needed boost as I try to revive it after a long time of slow activities. This revival will hopefully translate into more business hence more income for me.
