About Me

I am Irene Wambui, born and grown up in the coast region of Kenya (Mombasa). I hold a certificate in pharmacy. I am married with two kids, a boy & a girl. After college, I worked with a medicine firm for two years as an employee, and later ventured into business after getting married due to low wages.

Currently, I have a poultry rearing business and it's doing well, going with the way it started. Poultry keeping is a good business but a tricky one because it needs a lot of one's time with birds. My wish is to expand my business and target the bigger market.

My Business

As mentioned above, I am a poultry farmer. I normally buy one day old chicks and sell them after four weeks. I keep about 400 birds and I do keep them in two batches so that I sell 200 birds after every two weeks.

This is a profitable venture but it has its own challenges, such as expensive chicken feed and diseases. However, I have surmounted most of these challenges and I am glad my business is doing well. I get a net profit of about USD 200 per month.

Loan Proposal

With this money, I will be able to buy 5 - 90kg bags of chicken mash. With this large volume, I will be able to get a good discount and the feed the chicken for about 30 days. This will be very convenient for me since I do not have to keep going to buy the food when it runs out.

This will definitely increase my profit margin and I will use the extra income to expand the business. Thank you.

Thank you Margaret, The business is not very bad now although we were in a long election period which affected many businesses and people were not willing to spend.

Let me start by saying thank you to all lenders for their continued support. last season of my loan started well because i was able to refurbish my coop. but towards the month of August there was a diseases outbreak that heavily affected my production and i had to close my coop for same weeks on advise from the vet.
I came back on the month of October being more informed on this business. The business is catching up and that why i have been able to clear my loan early. My projected mission now is to double my production to 600 birds per month on a rotational basis. Thank you.
