About Me

I am Irene Wambui, born and grown up in the coast region of Kenya (Mombasa). I hold a certificate in pharmacy. I am married with two kids, a boy & a girl. After college, I worked with a medicine firm for two years as an employee, and later ventured into business after getting married due to low wages.

Currently, I have a poultry rearing business and it's doing well, going with the way it started. Poultry keeping is a good business but a tricky one because it needs a lot of one's time with birds. My wish is to expand my business and target the bigger market.

My Business

As mentioned above, I am a poultry farmer. I normally buy one day old chicks and sell them after four weeks. I keep about 400 birds and I do keep them in two batches so that I sell 200 birds after every two weeks.

This is a profitable venture but it has its own challenges, such as expensive chicken feed and diseases. However, I have surmounted most of these challenges and I am glad my business is doing well. I get a net profit of about USD 200 per month.

Loan Proposal

With this money, I will be able to buy 5 - 90kg bags of chicken mash. With this large volume, I will be able to get a good discount and the feed the chicken for about 30 days. This will be very convenient for me since I do not have to keep going to buy the food when it runs out.

This will definitely increase my profit margin and I will use the extra income to expand the business. Thank you.
