I grew up in a christian family my father was the pastor of Kenya Assemblies Of God Nakuru Kenya growing up as a pastors child was a bit challenging and honestly i didnt like it then because everyone expected us to behave in a certain way like we live in heaven with the angles for instance I was expected to dress up in long dresses which I didn't like any time I dressed in trousers or a short dress people would point fingers and say look at the pastors daughter this was not good at all, i went to school here in nakuru did my Olevels in nakuru too but went to nairobi for my diploma course in Housekeeping, just after my collage i got married though this was not what i wanted for myself but because i got pregnant i decided to get married and for 15 years of my life i was a stay at home mum and because i loved my housekeeping carrier so much i thought of ways of how i could go back to my passionate carrier and by the grace of God i bounced back.
I started my business in 2010 i have 22 rooms where guest check inn for bed and breakfast my business is situated in Nakuru town just 1km from the great Lake Nakuru, Sleepway Cottages as they are known have small dinning area where guest have there breakfast there, our rooms are big and spacious and our prices are quite affordable we charge USD15 for bnb and USD12 for bed only, i get 10-15 guests everyday i love my work it has made me be who i am today. I was passionate about hosting guests and making them comfortable while back at home and i said to myself when i grow up i would like to be a housekeeper and this is how i started my carrier i went to collage for housekeeping course and in 1998 i graduated. I use my profit in improving my business buying repairing and maintaining my business, i save alot and this has helped me to pay school fees for my children, i live in my own house and my business has helped me to buy new furniture in my house and a vehicle that i use in running my day to day errands.
In recent times there has been demand for private meeting space from our clientele that patronize my Guest House. Our Clientele range from local Non Governmental Organization (NGO's) , Churches, Local government county officials among others. I have received several requests for meeting space from these organizations whenever they spend a night at my guest house.
For the meeting space development I require to equip the idle conference hall space with the following equipment
1. Conference seats at a cost of Approximately $ 400
2.Tables at a cost of Approximately $ 500
3.Projector and a small Public address System at Approximately $ 1,000
By having the Meeting space I will increase my business profit in the following ways
1. Hire the meeting space for private meetings at a fee of approx $ 50 per session
2. Provide refreshments and meals during these meetings at approx $ 5 per person in the meeting and the meeting space can accommodate 20- 40 people.
3. I will hire the meeting space atleast twice a week and thats an incremental income of approximately $ 200 per month.
Its my conviction that If I expand my Guest House to accommodate a meeting space then the Guest house will now be a fully fledged Hotel
