About Me

I am a Zambian lady doing business to support my family and other relatives. I completed my secondary education plus tertiary education. My interests are in making clothes; hence, I want to improve my skills in tailoring. I need more capital for this project as, in future, I want to display my products as a fashion designer. That has been my dream. All my children are in school studying.

My Business

I am running a tailoring shop. I want to improve my cash flow. I have more clients I can manage and I want to start up my own tailoring and designing school to teach more people fashion and designing.

Loan Proposal

I AM LOOKING TO BUY EQUIPMENT TO BOOST MY TAILORING BUSINESS. THE EQUIPMENT WILL COST ME MORE THAN $5000. THIS WILL INCREASE THE PROFITABILITY OF THE BUSINESS. I WILL MAKE MORE CLOTHING PIECES TO SELL ONCE I BUY THE EQUIPMENT. MY PROFITS WILL INCREASE BY 30%. IT WILL BENEFIT MY FAMILY AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WHERE I LIVE AS I WANT TO START HELPING THEM.

About Me

I am Christine Musende Nalupya, from Zambia, Central Africa. I completed my secondary education plus tertiary education.I am a widow and a mother of 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys. My husband died 10 years ago and I have devoted my life to taking care, educate and nurture my children into responsible persons. 2 of my girls have so far finished schools and college and are working. My third born girl, just completed college last year and is looking for employment. The last 2 boys are into college now. I also support my niece who is a double orphan, financially who recently completed a teaching course and now waiting to be deployed. We live in our own house which we bought together with my late husband. I also bought a plot and built 3 small flats which i have been slowly building up to window level. During my free time especially on Sundays, I go to church with my children, in the evenings, we sometimes take a walk and have meals out together. Once in a while we go for vacation locally if and when money available within my means so we can have funny together and build a strong bond. I also buy them gifts when and if I can afford. My son plays soccer during his free time with a local team, so we sometimes go to watch and support him when he is playing. I also have friends that I mingle with. We sometimes go out together, attend business meetings, go for movies etc. When I am home, I like cooking and trying out new dishes for the family, when I am free, I play chess with my brother who is an expert. I am planning to join a bowling club to keep fit and to meet new people and mingle with them.

My Business

I bought the plot with my pension money from the benefits I got from my job as a nurse. From the same money, I reserved some to start a shop at a market trading in goods like grocery. There were many shops trading in the same things I was trading into as such competition was stiff, so I decided to go into tailoring. I had some knowledge about fashion and designing. I learnt this from my cousin who used to run a tailoring shop at his home and I would go there to learn how to design and tailor.I started this shop in 2016, in February. People started bringing in their materials and I would charge them labour. Later on I started buying clothes with African prints and making suits for women and men's shirts. My business was growing but at a slow pace due to inadequate funds and so my friend Nalishebo Muyunda invited me to join Zidisha which I did and I am so grateful to her and to Zidisha too. My business keeps growing and I owe this to my lenders and Zidisha as an organisation which has made it possible for me and other people access funding to grow our businesses.

I contacted Christine, she is still very much committed to finishing her loan. Her business has been slow clients are not paying but she has assured me that she will clear the loan at once if her clients pay her.

I spoke to Christine as her Volunteer Mentor, she is very committed to finish her loan. The only challenge at the moment is that business has been slow for her but as soon as she receives some payments from her clients she will make repayments to her loan.

Dear Lenders. I greet you warmly in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. I just want to update you on my progress. My business has grown, and such I also thought of giving back to community . which supports my business. I donated assorted items ( basic needs) to the needy at an orphanage run by the catholic to supplement their effort. I took along with me my 2 friends and my children. I had to take my children with me as a way of teaching them to love and help the marginalised in society. It was awesome. I could have posted the pictures but my storage space in my phone is running out it can't accommodate images. I am now able to make 30% profit from 25% and my stock has increased after I got paid for the security uniforms I supplied to the firm. This month end I will be able to purchase another machine and employ another person to help me with work as customers keep increasing. I will finish paying my loan by next week before due date because the business is doing fine, steadily growing.

Hello Lenders. I hope you are all fine, I am fine too. I am here to thank u for my loan that u funded me, i am so indebted to you and i am doing everything to make my business a success so that i also help the less privilleged in society and take care of my family and myself. I am here to report to you that my business has been going on well and steadily growing. I make 25% profits and out of the profits I have managed to finish the order of uniforms for security guards. I have even managed to send one of my son back to school to do degree in business administration. I was late for few days to make my last payment due to the fact that my client paid me by cheque and it took 3 working days to clear. I have now advised my clients to pay by cash to avoid the same late loan payments in future. From now on I will make sure I am punctual on my loan repayment. My future plans are to buy land and build my own factory and I am banking on your continued support. Thank u so much, may God bless you all.

To all my lenders, i want to thank you so much for funding my loan and i want to thank Zidisha for creating this plat form for the less privilleged to have the opportunity to access the loans and venture into profitable ventures. The loan has helped me excel to higher heights and I can see myself doing great things in future. I have managed to supply 3/4 of the order for a security firm. My nxt loan will enable me complete the supply of the uniforms. From the profits I make I used part of it to pay for my son who has enrolled into Urniversity to take up business Administration degree and I am very proud of him and myself to have achieved such a milestone. I thank you all. May God richly bless you

Good evening lenders through Zidisha. Thank u so very much for the loan u funded me. Though the amount was less than what I was looking for, still it has made me service 3/4 of my order of making security guard's uniforms. The business is progressing well. I can never thank u enough. I am looking forward to getting a bigger loan to complete my order and purchase more materials. Thank u God bless u.

Dear lenders. I appreciate you so much for the money you loaned me. I was able to buy more materials for the order I got for security guard uniforms though I am un able to supply the quantity required because of inadequate funds as the loan amount I got wasn't enough to cater for the complete order but the goodness is that I negotiated with them that I can deliver part and then finish the other part after they have paid me to which they agreed. I have continued making clothes for people that come with their own materials I charge them for labour only and also I make clothes and sell them to the public, that's why I am able to pay my loan on time. I would want to pay the current loan as soon as possible so that I can get a little more and be able to finish my order. I have inspired two of my neighbours and they have asked me to teach them the tailoring skill. I have shared to them about Zidisha and they got interested but I advised them to come up with a business where they will be able to make daily sales that's when I can bring them on board. They are in the process of setting up their businesses and I am there to help and encourage them. They are so eager. Schools have just opened here. I had a wonderful holiday with my children, we visited Chaminuka safaris where we saw animals like lion, hyena, giraffes, monkeys, buffallo, different snakes. We went on a cruise boat it was a nice experience. We came back the same day. I do spend money cautiously and carefully, within my budget owing to the fact that I have other financial responsibilities to take care of. Indeed I am so greatful to Zidisha for this nice initiative. Thank u all, who have made this initiative a success, may God richly bless u.

Good morning Zidisha Team. I am sorry that for the first time I paid my loan 2 days later than the due date, this was due to the damage to my simcard for the handset I use, so I couldn't transact until I replaced it and was activated early morning today 8th may local time. I have always endeavoured to work hard and pay my loan on time, this incident was just an anticipated one. Bear with me. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Christine Nalupya.

Hi Nicky. Thank you for funding me, I appreciate your generosity. This loan will help me meet the needs of my customers. Like now I have an order to make school uniforms for a local school and this loan will go along in that area. I will always endeavour to work hard and pay back the loans I get from Zidisha and save some money and plough back into the business. May God bless you and so you may continue blessing the marginalised. I also pray for myself that as i work harder,I may one day become a funder through Zidisha and help people financially like you.

Hi Wild heart. The last loan I got, I just purchased some cloths, cottons, laces, zips and buttons. I did JumpStart my loan but I managed to raise enough money from the savings plus the k642 loan I got from Zidisha. really pushed me up. The capital is still little though I am progressing, I need some more funding to purchase more materials to push me far. The profits I made from the last loan, I paid my rent at the shop, saved a little for unforeseen challenges in the business. I am being cautious about the usage of funds because the capital is still little so I have to restrict myself on how to spend the money. Once money increases, I will be able to take my children for holidays and buy them gifts. I would want even to help some children in the neighbour hood who are less privileged to pay for their schools and buy them school requisites. The main aim of my getting loans is to empower myself and be self sufficient, support my family, give them good future, equip them with skills so they can be independent and sustain themselves.
