About Me

I am true testament of the power of the community. After losing my parents at a very young age, relatives and friends helped me through life and gave me the strength to overcome the hardest challenge of my life.
As a parent, I now realize the value of commercial farming as opposed to subsistence farming as financial commitments increase.
It is also very fulfilling for me to be in a position to help others in the community just as others bore my burden as I was growing up.
A big thank you to my first Zidisha loan as this has made a remarkable improvement in my life, my family and the people around me.

My Business

the business is mainly poultry farming . I keep broilers and sell to the market when they are mature. The poultry business have a huge demand in Nairobi, this is because many people are taking the first foods especially during lunch time. the main expenses for this business is purchase of one day old chicken and feeds. 500 chicks will cost 30,000 Ksh ($358). this will require about 25 bags of feeds. each bag is Ksh 4000 ($48). the total cost of feeds therefore comes to $1200. When all other expenses like labor, transportation included, the profit from the venture about $ 607.

Loan Proposal

I will buy 3bags of chicken feed(starter mash and starter crumbs). Each is 50kg and costs ksh 3000 ($33.4) this totals to $100.2.

This will go a long way in establishing my business so that the amount I borrow from other sources to sustain 350 chicken to maturity will reduce hence less interest cost.

I expect my profit to increase by ksh 3000 as the estimated percentage profit I get from my capita is 30%

Hallo lenders. Ronald had some financial challenges this month which he has overcome and he promised to pay the total amount in arrears by the end of the week. I will continue reminding him on the promise.

I have purchased animal feeds with the entire amount and so in the meantime there is no money coming in. In some weeks I will have started harvesting the chicken so
I can resume the normal payment rate.

This money will buy 3bags of feed to start off my day old chicks.
It will help me borrow less to top up the capital required to sustain chicken upto the sixth week (maturity)
Thank you lenders. Am happy that I know Zidisha.

My first loan helped a great deal in buying one and half bags of chicken feed. Initially I could not afford the full cost of rearing 350 chicken. I would book the day old chicks, buy starter feed for the chicks then start sourcing for additional money to buy the feeds that will sustain them to maturity. This I could borrow from friends and then refund after sale of the chicken.
This loan has given me a bit of standing in my business so that the amount I used to borrow from friends sometimes with higher interest than that of Zidisha has reduced and will further reduce with my next loan until the point at which I will be able to manage a full cycle of chicken from week one to six(maturity) without borrowing any money.

Hi, the poultry business is going on well, expecting some of the broilers to be ready for market in the next one week. This will be very timely since it will provide part of the fees for my child. Thanks for your support.
