About Me

My name is Benjamin Watako Opara,I was born in Busia County in a Family of 9,and I am the first born.I went to Nambale primary School and later joined Musingu High School for post primary Education.I later joined kenyatta University for a degree in BCOM ,accounting option.
After graduating getting a job become a nightmare.I have been searching for actively but with no success.I decided to venture into farming as it was the only available option at ,I have done it with passion and its paying off.Though I have no background in agriculture.I have attended short causes on AI and green house maintenance to keep me posted about latest techniques.
I come from land where most people are farmers,we general do subsistence farming for daily food consumption. We also hold traditional circumcision and its always fun.
I have two kids and they are in lower primary school and they both want to be commercial farmers in future. In addition a niece who had dropped out of school because her polygamous father could not pay her school fees settled with me and i have been paying her fees and maintaining her now for three yaers.she is doing her certificate for primary examination this november.I always encourage them to work hard in school so that they can get the best life can give.
During my free time I always go herding my cattle, and cleaning the zero grazing unit.

My Business

I am a small scale dairy farmer, and I keep two dairy cattle namely Lando and Dibworo,I like the cattle and i call them by name.Land is lactating and so I provide my neighborhood with fresh milk, every morning.
I always sell my Milk at fair price and this gives me a competitive edge,I also make sure my milk is clean and does not add any water to make it more. This has gained me trust on my clients.I also allow clients to take milk on credit so that they can pay at the end of the month.
In a month I spend $50 on transport ,feeds and pesticides.my revenues in a good month is $300.I make an average of $220 in a good month.
I use the profits to pay school fees for my siblings and kids.

Loan Proposal

hi.lenders i am now a very ambitious man since i discovered zidisha. i wish to take 17560 kenya shillings loan to buy fertilizer for my nappier grass. i am lucky to have been given about one and a half acres of fertile land by my parents.i have covered one full acre of this land with nappier grass for animal feeding .this is because in my locality population is dense therefore leaving no idle land for grazing.after using the land for sometime i have realized that its fertility has declined. i wish to use this money to buy four bags of diammoniam phosphate each 50 kilograms by weight.each bag is sold at about 43 dollars in my local veterinary shops.this fertilizer will double the nappier production and i expect this to translate to increased milk and profits. i expect the revenues per month to increase to 350 dollars per month. i hope to use this fertilizer for remaining part of the year. thank you for visiting my profile.

Please adjust your loan payments to a smaller amount. You have worked hard to maintain a good repayment rate. It is important to keep this up for future loans. I hope you and your family are doing well. Regards, Mary

Hi Benjamin, I see you have fallen behind on your loan payments. Please contact [email protected] to adjust your payments to a smaller amount. Put your country name and reduce payments in the subject line. Lenders understand that business can be successful as well as have challenges. They would rather see very small payments rather than missed payments. Making small payments will keep your repayment rate in good standing for future loans. Regards, Mary
