About Me

Salaried employee working for a school group in Nairobi, Kenya. This is my 3rd year with them and looking forward to many more. I am learning to adapt and grow financially and ready to take on the world of business. I am exploring graphic design and printing business that will help me create some residual income.

My Business

On the side, together with my father, we are setting up a side business - a printing shop and graphic design business. I am an aspiring graphic designer, for posters, business cards and business branding material.

I particularly enjoy graphic design, something that started out as a hobby a while back. Plus I enjoy it because I get opportunities to practice at my regular job and on weekends.

The biggest cost in this line of business is advertising and software. So far, I have invested in a good computer and utilizing free software, I have been able to get started.

I am looking for some money to invest in software and advertising costs to take the business to the next level. I have mapped out a Facebook advertising strategy , focusing on a 10km radius around where I live - a large number of home-based and family owned businesses are located within that radius.

I believe that this additional revenue stream will help me and my family in the future with some additional income, improving our quality of life in the long run.

Loan Proposal

Purchase software licence for graphic design tool and run a Facebook ad campaign for the business - graphic design and print shop.

Hello, thank you for funding the project. I will buy 2 or 3 new hens to add to my current flock and use an incubator to hatch the eggs that they lay, hopefully leading to an increase in my flock. You generosity is greatly appreciated.

Apologies for delay in timely feedback but there have been challenges in accessing the app.
Moses had communicated his position which was due to illness but would resume payment as soon as possible.

      Dear Moses,

I'm sorry to hear you've been in the hospital and hope you're feeling better.

Please note that Zidisha loans carry Fees only. There are no interest charges on Zidisha loans, and there also never are any penalty charges added for paying late. (The "penalty" is a lower on-time repayment score, but there is no additional money added as a "penalty" to a loan.)

Thank you for updating your lenders.
Feel better soon, and best wishes.

Also, Moses, anytime in the future when you can't pay the full installment when it's due, you should pay whatever tiny amount you could pay and then I think the system would let you adjust your payment amount to the smallest amount allowed, and you could extend the amount of time. It's always better to do that, so you could improve your on-time repayment score and then keep it higher, which would help you to qualify for a higher loan amount in the future.

Thank you for being committed to clearing the full outstanding balance. That's so important so that lenders can use that money to help fund future projects. Most lenders here aren't rich people and depend on receiving borrowers' installments to re-lend.

I hope you're feeling better and stronger every day. :)

I was able to undertake a short, online course to improve my skills in graphic design. I am still undertaking the course at the moment and hoping to finish it in the next two weeks.

I am so grateful for the previous facilities. I was able to pay for and pass two freelance requirement exams. This will allow me to bid for more jobs and be more competitive.
