About Me

At 8yrs old i joined kiru primary school a local primary school,we used to trek to and fro though being 3 km away,.Because of poverty our parents made us to wake up at 5 am we go to the garden we work for an hour then come back to prepare to school sometimes without breakfast porridge .At lunch time we have to run home and prepare lunch ie ugali and veges from garden, while sometimes i used to prepare lunch my following bro and sis will be watering our two cows, then we eat speedily then start running again to school i remember that most of the days we to be beaten at school for late coming .after school we were to bring water 2km away grace cows and lock them then wash our feet as we had no shoes, then settle for our supper then sleep.in the 1980s there were no homework from school.
As I went through secondary school I didn't get good grade, so started working as a casual labour at the farms so that I can buy myself clothes, then I came to Nairobi in1999 to seek for job after wasting 9yrs.I worked at various construction sites as casual labour. Then in2003 I got job at G4S as a guard.
From 2003 with that Small salary I chipped in to help my parents to educate my younger siblings 5of them,Around 2010 is when I dedicated my salary towards my family development though I was servicing loans for my brothers schools fees.I went for another loan which I bought the POSHO mill.
in2017 I resigned from g4s to run the business as now we are operating the poshomill,a small retail shop and I have a small farm where I plant vegetables, they cover my rent of 80$,school fees for my kids 920$ per year and others for example pay loans 200$.

My Business

our business is located at Nairobi we run it with my wife we pay rent of 80$,s/fees 60$ loans 100$ and 50$for reinvestment.
from the poshomill in weekly we mill three bags of 90kgs which give us a profit of 15$ and milling for those who come with their maize we get 50$ weekly .from the kiosk we get around 20$ weekly as profit
we are looking forward to introduce more varieties of products in the kiosk for example we bring all varieties of cereals, detergents, beverages, cooking fats and salads etc.

Loan Proposal

I want to add stock to the retail shop.where I will bring in various detergents from different companies, also sugar ,beverage, cooking oils, bathing soaps and bar soaps, juices ,all of these will cost much but I will dedicate 20$ and the other 20$ I will buy Maize stock while is only 6 sacks each costing 3$

am apologize for reducing the amount from 5501 to 4501 because I realized that the sales go down in the 2 last weeks to end month most customers don't have cash they come for credit which affects our cash flow.

Through the profits I have attained from the business has enabled me to expand it .for example instead of buying packed items in dozen or ten packs I buy in bales which give me good profits ,softcare baby diapers packed 40 of them goes for 7$,which we sell each 0.2$ will bring a profit of 1$ per pack. But if I buy a bale of 6 packs which sells at 33$ will bring a profit of 11$.So when I buy in larger quantity the better profit though it stays longer.

Thank you Mr paul Buchheit for trusting me on your funds,I will work hard to repay the money.I will use part of the money to in crease stock in the shop and part of it I will bring in new items which are being asked by our customers eg plastic wares such as basins, bowls and cups.from the increased profits I will repay my loans.

Since August was our election month we had many challenges in business especially this small ones. for example the government introduced a subsidised maize flour which we sold at 0.9$ all our poshomill customers went for the cheap flour and all maize suppliers supplied the big millers therefore getting maize was difficult .before this we used to mill 5bags of 90kg per week but now we milling only two but we are expecting to rise after the swearing in of the president and many people who had gone to reserve will have returned and maybe the subsidised Maize flour would have stopped.

I will buy maize one sack which I hope will sell after three days and go for another one .so in one week I will make a profit of more than 10$ which will help me in servicing the loan also my customers will get it near instead of going to buy it some two kilometres away.
