About Me

Am Geoffrey , the 1st born in our Family , grey up and schooled in kajiado County with the Maasai community. I am a trained Information Technology expert with a passion in IT Currently, I am an IT entrepreneur.. I used to work with a tour company as the web manager and IT technician until i resigned and started freelancing in web development and graphic design.

Besides consuming loads of Graphic design journals and trends, I am into current affairs and I like watching latest local and international news and Documentaries whenever I get the opportunity off work. I like knowing things around me and the world in general.

My Business

I run printing business where I print full photos, passport / ID / Driving License photos, documents, brochures, business cards, posters and banners . I also photograph events like birthday parties, home coming parties, weddings, get-together events, then print the photos.

On a normal day i make between USD 20- USD 30 daily but on good days i can make up to USD 40.

My long term goal is to have a complete Photo Studio . Having a studio can increase my earning by close to 50% because currently the Kenyan market for professional photos is very big, and there is a vast area to focus on from portrait photos , magazines, political campaigns, events such as weddings, funerals and much much more.

I use 30% of my daily takings to cover my personal and family expenses, and 70% to cover my business expenses, including rent electricity, and materials."

Loan Proposal

The largest document I print currently is size A3. I have identified a potential market for large format document printing. in the location my business is, there are no large format printing services providers. People have to travel to town to get these services. The 2017 election season is also around the corner and there will be market for Postas and Banners printing for many contestants. This is why I have decided to invest in a Large format printer. I have Identified one on a local business website that costs Ksh.150,000 (USD 1500). With the savings of Ksh.80,000 (USD 800) I have made for the printer, the loan will help me fill up the remainder and I will be able to get the printer. This will increase my income by approximately between Ksh.10,000 and 20,000 a month with a probable surge during the electioneering period. This could also push me to get a help hand for the increase in work load. I will be glad to get assistance from Zidisha and the Lenders team for this upgrade to my business. Thank you in advance. Below is a link to the printer I intend to purchase (HP Designjet 1050)

      Hello Geoffrey,
This is not the best place to ask such questions, because it is intended for your communication with lenders. We do not have as much information and access as staff, so if you are not satisfied with my response, send an email to Zididsha at [email protected].
Having said that, I expect it is a deduction for Zidisha Members Loan Fund. I looked at the details of your costs. It is not included there.
Briefly, Zidisha introduced the charge (in Feb or March) to replace the interest payable on loans. The charge should be deducted from the first loan granted. This makes that first loan expensive, discouraging borrowers, who are not motivated to repay the loan from applying.... I understand that as you have not paid it, you well need to do so. You can of course decide against this, and cancel the loan. However, you should do that immediately.
You may read more about why we made this change, in a message Julia posted on the forum: forum.zidisha.org/threads/z....
As I wrote, if you are not satisfied with my response, or want to know more, send an email to Zidisha.
      Best Regards,
