About Me

I never knew being a single mum was such a challenge until i lost my job in january 2014. After applying to several jobs and attending various interviews without success, i decided to start my own business since am a trained caterer. i borrowed materials needed from a shop and made samosas that i sold to Daystar university students staying next to my place. The reception was superb and i must say students loved my samosas. I've never looked back since. I'm glad my best hobby is cooking so i sure enjoy what i do.

My Business

Since my samosa business had never disappointed me, i decided to expand the business a bit and add beef and pork sausages to the list of snacks that i made. The competition favoured me since i was the only one who sold door to door so i sold the most as compared to the rest who sold in small restaurants. Students love snacks so i was sure the business would do well and i will be able to repay the loan as agreed from the profits made weekly. I used the profits to buy more tools for use in the business and saved the rest, so repayment was not such a burden. Starting 2015, i expanded to a small restaurant serving all kinds of food and drinks and even changed location of the business to my home area. The business is doing good though i needed to add other equipment to add efficiency. So when i got my past loans, i bought more equipment and also managed to buy seats and tables since my customers had to sit somewhere to enjoy their meals. I must say the business is doing well and i am happy with the progress.

Loan Proposal

If i get the loan, i will make custom made seats and tables for my customers. My business has grown to a small restaurant with a sitting capacity of twenty people yet i still lack the capability t so buy furniture. The seats will be ten in number and will cost me 5000 kenya shillings, and the tables will be four in number and will cost me 2000 kenya shillings. The provision of the furniture will add good profit to the business of about 40%. This will be of benefit to both my business and myself, because i will be able to uplift the business and buy my household property that i sold earlier to help the business.

    Dear Daisy,

This is a place to communicate with your lenders. In your case you should ask your question to Zidisha staff. You can do this by creating a support ticket using the help menu (www.zidisha.org/borrower/help).

Ps. You agreed to put a large part of your loan into the Member Loan Fund to get a higher credit in the future. This amount is deducted from your current loan so you didn’t receive that. If this was a mistake then you could repay the exact amount you received. If this is done then you should contact staff (by creating a support ticket) to cancel the remaining part of your loan.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Hi Wendy, can't the Zidisha management just just cancel the loan, since I already repaid the 7,000/- i had received as a loan, instead of waiting for me to pay the 10,870/- security fee and then refunding it to me? I think that would be much easier since I'm in a financial crisis right now. It's unfair if you list me with CRB for an amount that remained with you.

We haven't heard from you for several weeks, and you're getting very behind with your payments. Please contact [email protected] to discuss the best way forward. We want to help you, but you have to do your bit too!
    God bless you,
    Wendy

Please can you contact Zidisha to arrange a lower weekly installment. That is better than letting yourself get behind with your payments, which can make it harder to get another loan. You can increase your installments again when you have more money coming in. Zidisha is very helpful and wants you to succeed rather than struggle!
    God bless you,
    Wendy

Hello Daisy. Are you able to start making payments again yet? If not, please can you contact Zidisha and ask them to make your installments even lower for a while.
    God bless you,
    Wendy

I have decided to change the repayment amount because the profits are not so good as at now and i am using it to pay for my college and my baby's school fees as well. Otherwise the loan helped me buy a new juicer which has really made work easier in the restaurant by reducing manual work and increasing efficiency to the business,

I would like to let the lenders know that used the loan to purchase my restaurant equipment and tools that were lacking in the business. That purchase made work easier in the business and we saved a great deal of time in serving and satisfying our customers. My business profits increased by 15% since we also faced a great deal of competition.

I can not pay the usual amount because my cashier stole alot of my business cash and disappeared. The business has since gone down though i am trying to get it to its feet again. All in all i hope the business will pick again and profit margin will go up again.

I would really like to thank my lenders so much for this loan, i really appreciate your kindness. I will use the loan to buy more seats and tables for my restaurant, and use the rest for transportation of the furniture from the buying place to my restaurant. The addition of the seats and tables will help my restaurant a great deal as the number of customers eating in my restaurant will grow and this will add to the restaurant's daily profit. The additional profit will help to purchase more equipment and at least add one employee to the business.

Thank you so much my lenders, i used my past loan to purchase chairs and tables to be used in my restaurant and that has made a great impact on my business. My customers have increased a great deal and my profits have gone up. I have used the increased earnings to pay for my brother his university fees and also added more equipment to help in running the business. I am looking forward to this loan so i can use it to add more chairs and tables to accommodate more customers.

I take this opportunity to thank all my lenders very much. I received the the whole amount of the loan and used it to purchase the budgeted seats and tables. I'm happy to say that the seats and tables have been of a great help to my business as they can now sit comfortably as they take their meals min my restaurant. My earnings have increased by 30% since then and i know they will increase even further. I've used the increased earnings to re-pay the loan and to buy more furniture. thank you again so much for your support.
