About Me

I am an ordinary Kenyan born and raised in a humble background in the rural Rift Valley region. I grew up in both rural and urban settings under care of my granny. In the year 2007 my life and those of others was overturned by post-poll violence in Kenya. My family lost everything in the ethnic war and we've had to start all over again since then. Having been a brilliant person in school, my dreams and future were shattered.

I now reside in Burnt Forest town where I have reinvented my life and tried to earn through hard work despite misfortunes in the past. I work as a self employed videographer, motion designer and a small businessman to try and make ends meet.

My Business

I have involved myself in many businesses having failed to secure a job in my country after college. I own a small mobile money transfer shop (Started with previous Zidisha loan) and I also work as a videographer, photographer.

Loan Proposal

I intend to buy an outdoor LED display screen which can stand all sorts of weather changes. This will be installed outside where more people can see adverts and commercials from clients. It will create a more solid confidence from clients to my company and result in increased profits from interested advertisers.

    Dear Tony:
Wondering if you are going to make some repayments? Yes, you are late, very late. Yes, you were late in the past and promised to do better this time. But - your lenders understand! Life gets busy, money gets tight, and we understand that you have a small child and other financial demands. But.....if you don't make any payments, Zidisha will not be an option for you - ever! If you do make payments, even late, then your lenders will realize you are trying and be willing to lend to you in the future. I urge you to make the repayments, however minimal, so that Zidisha can continue to be an option to you.
    Best,
    Karen

Hello everyone. Its that time when you feel hung-up yet you cannot give up. My loan has expired for the 3rd time now in a row and I have re-applied again. I hope all of you will have a look at my proposal and hopefully help out.
I am still ashamed of my 17% repayment score....I know it might be warding off lenders but I believe I explained myself in totality. I have no other explanation.

    Thank you, God bless you!

Hello Lenders. After asking for help from fellow Zidisha members (to tell me any mistakes on my profile which may be repelling Lenders) I have decided to come out clean and plain to you. There's need for me to be straightforward if I hope to appeal to your interest in funding me.

My overall repayment score is not looking good....but it is what it is. My previous loan (3rd since joining) is actually my first significant loan I have ever taken. It greatly helped in my business which before that, I was frankly nowhere. I had nothing.

I defaulted in timely repayments since my business was just at its youngest. So even though I am ashamed of that poor score, somewhere in my heart I am celebrating being able to pay off the loan in one complete instalment.

I have learnt my lesson now, I wont default on instalments again. I also know I dont deserve your attention (seems like I figured this out too late) but I kindly ask your help.

Zidisha is the ONLY place I can get funds in my current life.

Hello Lenders, I am sorry for being a late payer and I hope all of you will understand. I request you to understand.

    I have a story:
Remember the first time I bumped into Zidisha? That when I had dreams bigger than my family and extended family's pockets combined? Well, here we are. I had no idea how I would cater for my newborn cute baby Maya, then you people happened! I now have an operational Mobile-Money transfer shop and I do not worry what Maya and my wife will eat and wear. She and her mum even made themselves the managers (and threw me out lol!). But I am just happy and thankful that you helped. Zidisha is a miracle to us.

Now, I am back taking the next step towards raising our living standard a notch higher. Below are photos of me (surprise shots actually) in a recent event. I have skills in video, audio & tv production that's why my original idea was advertising. Here is the problem:

I was lucky to be contracted to shoot and produce this traditional African oath-taking ritual event. The price was agreed on $350 (35000kshs). Since I have not been able to buy my own equipment, I had to hire the cameras I am holding and other basic tools. I worked with two assistants. At the end of the first stage (shooting), the equipment I had hired consumed $200. I paid the assistants and went home with only $70. But I managed to deliver to the client.

I need your help to by a camera of my own. Currently, we hire a camera for $75 per day here, and in the end all your earnings go to the owner. I have a photography studio room, I have homemade soft-boxes, lights but I lack that one critical tool: a camera. Instead of paying $75 to hire a camera, I can repay the loan and end up with that same camera! I need your help because I cannot do it without you, apparently. Where I come from, believe in honesty and plain truth.

Thanks for your time. God bless you all.

After a long period of time trying and sometimes failing to meet the weekly installments, I have concentrated on saving the full amount and pay the loan once.

Due to political state of my country, the economy has deteriorated for low class citizens. Business has been bad since elections with two sides holding us hostage by resisting products. One side has resisted using Mpesa services thus causing backfiring of my small investment. thank you.

Hello Lenders, its 5 days to go, still pushing on and hoping my loan will be funded. This is me on the Mpesa Agent shop. The colors you see behind me are assorted packs of cosmetics....just to maximize use of that shop space.
    Thanks all of you!

I am lost for words to you lenders who chose to fund my application. At a particular time living in our countries (3rd world) we loose faith in humanity. This is as a result of completely inverted economic status which in turn favors only a small percentage of people to start businesses and stay in them.

You funding my application may seem like a helping hand to an entrepreneur, but to me it kind of restores faith in humanity. Now I believe that there are good, caring and kind people out there. Thank you very much, I will work hard to repay the loan back to you, so that you can continue to do the same to others.

I wish to thank all of you lenders who have contibuted towards fully funding my loan applications. This loan will greatly help me make a big stride in my advertising business, help me buy a 40+ inches Tv screen. Despite the delay in disbursement (I am yet to get the money), I am already planning for the choice of TV screen to buy (Consumer-level Tv screen may not withstand commercial use, so I am researching for durability and effectiveness each model is).

I will be updating you regularly about my progress, and I pray that may the pockets that the money came from be blessed ten-fold. Thak You.

      Hello Tony,

I'm curious, your third loan service fee is 0. Did you choose loan with MLF and then cancel it? I saw some pattern that when the service fee is 0 then that loan was fully repaid by cancel the loan and using MLF refund. Am I correct?
