About Me

MY STORY
I am Joseph Munene 29 years old married with one child.I live at Ndwaru Road off Naivasha Road in Dagoretti.Professionally I am a teacher and proprietor at the New Dream Educational Centre.I went to Endarasha High school and left in 2002 with a very good grade but could not join university because of finances. Before I joined college I worked in the informal sector(jua kali sector employed to sell charcoal at Kawangware 56).I was able to save funds to pay for my college education. In 2007 I joined Migori TTC where I graduated with a P1 Certificate in 2009.
After that I joined the education sector working in different private primary schools as a teacher.I gained a lot of professionalism and always wished to own my school'
Fortunately an opportunity came beckoning. There was a non-profit school that had been dissolved.I quickly paid rent and negotiated some stationery and furniture from the vacating management.I acquired them on leasehold.
I love soccer and basketball.I am also an ardent fun of business documentaries.I also read novels on weekends.
I have come from very far to one time being employed in a charcoal store.I am not relenting on my dreams of owning a chain of renowned universities.I am convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Zidisha lenders and community will walk with me to reach the sky-its my limit

My Business

My business kicked off on the 6th 0f Jan 2014 with 37 children and 6 members of staff.Currently there are 78 pupils and 13 members of staff. This rapid increase has been brought about by having a young workforce which is dedicated to ensure efficient, effective and appropriate curriculum content has been delivered to the pupils. This has resonated brilliantly with the community reciprocating in more enrollment of pupils.
Risks and challenges are inevitable.Currently
1.There no funds to cater for marketing during the August holidays. This entails brochures and paint to change the face of the school(previously it has been used on a horrible state to compromise donations)
2.There is no foodstuffs in our store. We are forced to retail buy which is not only in-effective but also a threat to expansion.
3.Lack of sustainable funds for the staff. Its a threat bearing in mind they are the pillar to my success.
4.Lack of school van in order to widen my market base.
5.Lack of funds to help build more swings for the preparatory children and purchase baby related fun equipment.
The business is very profitable as long as the pupils increase in roll.
Servicing of the loan will be done by fee collection from the pupils.

Loan Proposal

My business I currently doing well but I am in need of around 80 dollars to help me pay for the printing of bulk brochures which I will distribute over the August holidays to potential parents.
Although I cannot access the full loan the much I will get will help me with the down-payment for the printing to start as I raise the rest.
I intend to carry out the marketing in August.
This will help sell my school and get to be known far and and wide. I will include details of the exciting services we are offering in the school in addition to nice pictures within the compound.

      Hi Jan 73,
Thank you so much for the compliment.
Well currently I will not be able to send you the brochure but as soon as they are developed I will post it on this profile. Is it ok with you?
Happy to know you would love to know more about the school.
How did you learn of my previous involvement with Sunrise of Africa Schools.I would love to know.Well we aren't affiliated with Sunrise of Africa Schools at now. They were my employer for three years(2010-2013) until they retrenched us last year 2013 dissolving the campus at Waithaka which was on a rented tin structures. From here it's where I took charge of the rented premises and progressed with running the institution with the help of 5 other people.
The students are 2 years to 15years.For more information kindly visit our young website thedreameducationcentre.wee...
      Thank you

Flow of cash has bettered and I am planning to complete the loan before the end of the year so that Zidisha lenders might consider my ability to pay an even more higher loan. The previous loan has been so much helpful.Taking a higher loan will enable me progressively expand my areas of operation.I hope the kind Zidisha lenders will listen to my request

After the end of the term I expected that parents would stream in and clear their outstanding balances. This did not happen.Since the school went on recess there has been zero collection.I believe it is because of the hard times that the parents are undergoing. This forced me to reschedule the loan on the second week of closing but unfortunately it is like the process did not go through.I want to give an assurance that the school gets back to operation this coming week and absolutely I will be repaying back the installments .In fact I will raise them in order to clear it much faster.Thank you for listening to my explanation.
I cannot fail to acknowledge how great Zidisha helped me to down pay for the production of the brochures.I promise to make calculated moves in the future.
