About Me

My name is Isaac Wangila. I am a Kenyan man aged 35 years old married with a family. Currently, I live in Kitale Town, Trans-Nzoia County in the Northern part of the Rift Valley Region. I was brought up by a single parent since my mother died when I was a year; my father remarried; since I never got along with my stepmother, I went and stayed with an uncle who catered for my education up to Form four. Later on I moved to Nairobi in search of a job; fortunately I landed a job opportunity where I worked on casual basis; with the proceeds from this job, I managed to pay my tuition fee for an IT Course. After my course, I relocated to Kitale where I was employed in one of the local school as a tutor. Two years later, I started a local cyber cafe with just two computers. With my good public relation, I grew my market base with majority of my customers being teachers. I have had a lot of experience in this life. I always express my warm gratitude to all those who have helped me in my journey through life till this day. My aim in life is to become a social entrepreneur and grow my cyber café into a big ICT consultancy where I can open many branches in the whole of North Rift Region and nationwide. As a young man, my greatest philosophy has always been to be self employed; all along I had envisioned to link up with financial institutions that would help me grow. But when I was introduced to Zidisha, I have seen a breakthrough. Currently, my business is doing well courtesy of Zidisha. I have employed two staffs who assist me in the daily running of the business.

My Business

I run a cyber café within Kitale Town of Trans Nzoia County. It is a licensed business. I offer typesetting and printing services, Photocopying services, internet and emailing services and maintenance of computers.
After my college, I had the desire to venture into the IT market which was yet to be flooded in the Northern part of the Rift Valley thus I decided to settle in Kitale of Trans-Nzoia County.
During the day-to-day running of my business, I do incur some costs which range from Printing/ Photocopying Paper, Wages for my two assistants, rent, electricity bills, security, licence/ permit and wages.
The average daily turnover has risen from $40 to around $60 . Out this turnover, I do some savings which guarantees me repayment of the loan on time as per the repayment schedule; apart from that a fraction of it is ploughed back into the business and also support my family.

Loan Proposal

I run Computer Bureau/ Cyber Café where a lot printing and photocopying and of late I do print full photos, passport, Plastic ID and business cards after acquiring an Epson Stylus Photo PX660. All along, I have been using the HP Deskjet Printer to run photocopies which has been slow and sometimes tedious; which has at times led to customers opting to do the same from my competitors who have big and faster photocopying and printing machines. Many of my competitors use Kyocera photocopying machines which are faster and effective compared to the HP Deskjet Printer that I have long been using. I typesetting and printing of assorted materials ranging from examinations, posters, brochures, event programmes and also do print photos passports, IDs and business card. On a normal day I make between 1500-2000 Ksh daily but on good days I can make up to 4000 Ksh; on a monthly basis it results to an average of USD 600.

I have been doing a lot of saving from all the business turnovers and I am planning to buy Kyocera Photocopying Machine which costs roughly USD 653.67 (Ksh. 65,000). I strongly believe that if funded together with savings, I will be in a position to purchase this machine which by all means will increase my income to greater heights.

Your lenders are waiting to be repaid Isaac. We cannot make loans and give opportunities to others if we are not paid back. Please resume making payments on your Zidisha loan.

Please make regular payments on your loan Isaac. It is better to make on time smaller payments than skip some and make a larger payment. Lenders like to see that you are trying to repay what each of us loaned to you.

I would like to take this opportunity to first and foremost thank the Zidisha fraternity for the good work they are doing and the far they helped me. I can proudly say that through their loans, I have established myself and can face life positively.

Secondly, I would like to tender in my apologies for the delay in acknowledging receipt of the funds which were disbursed to me. I was hit by some challenges; I lost three of my relatives in a span of three weeks which somehow complicated my operations and forced me to operate from up-country where I could not access internet services. But now I'm back at my work place and promise to keep you updated with every move that I make.

Thirdly, I would like to confirm that I indeed received Ksh. 171,000 as per my loan application.

Lastly, I do acknowledge receipt of an invitation to be one of the Zidisha Volunteer Member; I confirm that I would be delighted to serve the Zidisha Fraternity at any capacity and therefore I state that I am willing and positively accept the offer.

Thank you once again and may the good Lord Bless you all..

First, I would like to say a big thank you to all my lenders for this prompt and timely funding of my loan. I'm very grateful for it comes at the right time; indeed, I have already identified a very strategic town centre which is very ripe for my business.

This will prompt me to move with speed to make sure that I set up the business and stock it with the relevant equipment in readiness for resumption of the academic sessions in the learning institutions; i.e. early September.

Thank you once again my lenders and the Almighty God bless you abundantly.

Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Zidisha fraternity for the loan that I just completed paying. It was of great importance and help as it enabled me purchase machine which have been helpful to my business. I bought a colour photocopying machine with the aim of printing campaign posters but my expectations were not fully achieved for most political parties opted to do the printing works for their preferred candidates thus leaving us with a few independent candidates. Although I didn't hit my expected target I am positive that the machine will be of great importance to my business.
All in all, I thank my lenders for giving me a chance to grow for had it not been for the financial support from zidisha, my business had stagnated at just one level. Thank you very much and may the Almighty bless you all.

I have just resumed my duties today and I have already ordered for the printer which I intend to purchase which I will pay on delivery basing on their terms (Cash on delivery). I will be posting a photo of the same immediately it is delivered to me.

Thank you very much and may the Good Lord bless you all.

I would like to take opportunity to very sincerely thank my Zidisha Lender for the great they are doing by empowering small entrepreneurs of whom I am part of. Through this loan, my business has kept on growing to different levels. Currently, I can sustain myself well with the income from my business; on the other hand I have a offered job opportunities to two ladies who have been helping me in the daily running of the cyber cafe and the Mpesa shop.
In this respect, I would like to encourage my fellow beneficiaries of the Zidisha Loans to maintain on time loan repayment so us to enable our lenders reach many other needy entrepreneurs.

I would like to adjust my weekly installment for this week to Ksh. 3,500. The reason for my adjustment is that one of my family members was involved in an accident which led me to incur some unplanned and un-budgeted for expenditures.

First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank all my lender for trusting me and granting me a chance to develop myself economically. Sincerely speaking, Zidisha loans has been of great importance/ help to me unlike the other Micro finance institutions which I used to borrow money from earlier. I'm happy that I have completed my previous loan which has helped me change the face of my business. I had just moved to a new shop which was big and required restocking; with the help of Zidisha loan, I managed to stock my shop and now I am reaping the fruits of Zidisha loan.

Thank you zidisha and long live my zidisha lenders.
