About Me

My names are George Ngugi, am born again, married to one wife Elizabeth. I live in Omega Saika Nairobi along Kangundo road.
I am co founder of Soft leather company that deals with leather processing.
The company is young and growing with promise of expansion given the market availability across east Africa and across the region.
We get our products from nearby slaughter houses and market is readily available.
I have years of experience in leather processing having worked in various companies based in Nairobi Kenya.

My Business

The potential for growth in Kenya’s leather industry is considerable. The government estimates that value addition could more than double the current earnings to ksh 9 billion. The country has in recent years produced over two million hides (mainly cattle, with some camel) and around four million skins (goats and sheep).
The products in this sector include raw hides and skins; chrome tanned hides; wet blue skins and hides; shoes and she uppers/ footwear; finished leather; semi-finished leather products and PVC coated fabrics.
We are therefore involved in leather processing which forms the basics of our revenue.

Loan Proposal

I take this opportunity to most sincerely Zidisha team and lenders for according me another opportunity to place my second loan. Below is my budget for the loan requested.
1. Mimosa - 20gs @ 250KES x 20 = 5,000KES

3. Fatliquor - 20Kgs @ 160KES x 20 = 3,200KES

    Dear Zidisha Team and Lenders,
Thanks a lot for your reminders in regard to my past and pending loan repayments.
Let me report here that, my SHAVING MACHINE that I use in production of finished leather broke down and this has caused me much in my business as I had not anticipated.
I had to source for other funds elsewhere to enable me buy spare parts for its maintenance.
Spare parts have just arrived from China and will be able to get down to business hence be able to settle down the repayment balancers immediately. I have a queue of customers in waiting.
I am sorry for all the inconveniences that I may have caused on your side.
I will be able to repay all my due balances amounting to 7,668 Kenya shillings on Thursday next week 24th, July, 2014.
Thanks a lot for your time and consideration.
    George Ngugi.

I have tried to reach George Ngugi over his phone, but as from yesterday his phone was not going true but I called Evans who invited him to Zidisha to know whether there is any problem but Evans too told me that they have not met before. I text Ngugi but he did not respond, but he only responded today by a text informing me that he has not been over the phone due to certain reasons asking me to call him immediately of which I did but he was not picking my phone call. So I proceeded to another number by the name Ruth who gave me Ngugi's wife number and immediately I called this number of his wife who told me that she was busy some where and promised me that over night he will tell Ngugi to respond back to me by making a phone call
    Thank you.

    Dear Zidisha,
We have the member who has not done his payments by the name George Ngugi. On 3/7/2014 I called him but eventually was not available on his phone and I proceeded to call Evans Mose who invited him before I can call any other person else and Evans told me on phone that he will pay today on 3/7/2014. And again I text the member and am eagerly waiting for the answer

Hello my lenders and zidisha founders. I am writing to update you on my developments here after you gave me first loan of 50USD. There is increased customer need for my processed leather and have seen an opportunity in this.
I have noted that i have 5 days remaining to my requested loan i so request for your support to enable me hit 100% target of my loan request. If i hit this mark, i will be able to purchase finishing leather
chemicals which will attract more customers. I already have a team of
customers waiting and your support will do em great favor. hanks once more.
