I am Philomena Nyambura. I am married with four kids. I am a Kenyan by birth and citizenship. I am a hardworking woman and I have managed to open my own business due to unemployment in the country. I own one shop at my area of residence and this business has benefited most of my family's finances, for example, paying my kids' school fees, paying for bills (electricity and water). I began this job because I couldn't depend on my husband's salary alone. I therefore came up with this idea and the business is now flourishing. I have no other source of income apart form the work I do. Therefore, if financially supported, I can move far and even start other projects that can help eradicate poverty in the society and empower other women to take risks in order to improve the state of their families.
Concerning my business, I am a hardworking business lady since I am the bread winner. I only own one shop for business purposes from where I pay my kids' fees. In my business. customers are very impressed in how I welcome them and serve. This attitude has motivated some of my colleagues to become entrepreneurs and they have really succeeded in their businesses though it is a job of low income. Also, this business has opened the eyes of other women to engage in busy activities instead of wasting time at home. This idea has reduced the poverty in the community. Therefore, if given enough support financially, it will help improve the living standard of my family and in the society too. If given this support, I am determined to also begin other projects that might be useful and may generate enough income.
