I was born in 1980 born and raised in kisumu county, i went to Lwala Kadawa primary school, then proceeded to lwala Kadawa secondary school where i did my O level. in the year 2000, i came to Nairobi to search for a job in industrial companies, after searching for 4 years with no avail, i entered into small scale business dealing with second hand clothing, I am married to Violet Atieno, and I am blessed with one son 2 years old, Noel Elshama. I reside in eastland Nairobi, dandora estate. I live in a rented house single room which i pay Ksh.3000 per month, inclusive of other bills. I am a christian born again in 1998. I am the first born of ten siblings. I envisage to a good and responsible father and a husband to the glory of God.
I started doing business in the year 2004, dealing with second hand clothes after being introduced by friends, i sell by going to house to house and street to street to reach my clients. I mainly deal with children's wear and occasionally i sell women's wear, i operate my business in Dandora and Kariobangi. this business has enabled me to cater for my bills and upkeep. after saving for few years, i was capable to do my wedding and eventually family, my wife has also gone to college to take certificate in Early Child Development. I do get a profit of 30% to 200% depending on the type and the condition of the goods i sell. My future plans and desire is to establish a boutique exhibition in Nairobi and other cities. The challenges i have experienced are, lack of resources to expand bad debts from clients who do not pay in cash. since it is a hawking business, it requires personal attention thus limiting me from being diverse and versatile, it is tiresome and weary because i have to walk long distances to reach my clients. I believe through zidisha micro finance, i will get much needed assistance from kindhearted partners so that i can give my family a descent living and a promising future.
Am Duncan Ochieng from Nairobi Kenya. I deal in used clothing i.e jackets and children wear. This i have done for 8years .This is a profitable business cause i do make profit between 30%-200%until my second loan used to sell from door to door, but with second loan i rented a stall and employed an attendant. My life has been good and better.upon receiving third loan of487$ i will add stock to my current stall with 100$ and use 50$ to rent a new stall ,250$ to stock it cause i plan to venture into shoe selling and ladies handbag.40$ for licensing and 47$ for emergency.my dream to become importer of used clothes is valid with zidisha thanks lender for making happen.
