About Me

I am a young male double orphan who has been interested in running my own small business ever since I was a child. I started selling phone accessories immediately after High School and eventually ventured into phone repairs. However, with the need to raise more money for my Technical Trades education, I decided to go into selling secondhand clothes and specifically children's clothes and shoes which seemed to be on more demand. My desire to work very hard and be financially sustainable in order to meet my career goals has been my main driving force and motivation.

My Business

My business involves selling of secondhand clothes and shoes for children at a market stall and I also deliver the merchandize to specific customers within a certain radius of the market who want to do business in the comfort of their homes. The bales of children's clothes and shoes are usually bought once every 3-4 weeks and can last a week or two before I order some more. The demand for children's secondhand clothes has grown because things have become too expensive for many households due to the economic downturn and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic. The need for expanding the business is therefore very urgent

Loan Proposal

The loan will be used to buy inventory of assorted children's secondhand clothes and shoes. These will be sorted out in two different categories i.e. those in very good condition and those less attractive and older looking. The loan will also be used in delivering some of clothes to customers who prefer the merchandize to be delivered to the comfort of their homes. These clothes are a bit more expensive than the ones at the market stall in order to cover the cost of delivery. Most of the clothes are for the current rainy and cold weather. The shoes are also divided into good quality and old and are also sold at the market stall and delivered to customers.

Income Source

The current difficult climate of business will require that I increase my sales volumes and raise more revenue and profit by increasing the number of customers and pricing the merchandize in order to sell more. The deliveries to homes which bring in more profits will have to be expanded and the range of clothes and shoes increased to provide customers more choice. I will also take advantage of various events around the city where different good and services are provided.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, I had to move from the store where I was and have been looking for a permanent place to trade from. I found a new market stall and am now settling down to resume trading.

We have been moved from the section of stalls in the market where we were trading from due to flooding which poses a health risk and customers cannot come over. We are waiting to be allocated alternative stalls while a new drainage system is being installed. I am therefore only able to do door to door sells at the moment which are also being hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the work continues.

I am very happy to report that I have repaid my loan in full! I used the loan to purchase a bale of children clothes and shoes. Despite being down with COVID-19 I am happy that I managed to sell all my stock and look forward to buying more goods and increasing my revenue and profits. I plan to move to a bigger store where I can sell more goods. Thank you once again for all those who contributed to the first loan.
