About Me

My Names are Milka Atieno Ojuka.I live in Nakuru County Headquarters in the city called Nakuru.I completed my secondary school in the year 2000. After this, in the year 2003, I joined a college in Nakuru city whereby I did my business entrepreneurship course. After the completion of my course, I was employed at a famous supermarket in town in the year 2004.I worked there for about six years then i was laid off. After being laid off, I then thought of an idea that would help my family financially. It is then that I decided to open my own business to cater for my family daily needs.I am a mother with two children (a boy and a girl). My first born is a boy and he is in class eight(8),my second born is a girl and she is in class (5).

My Business

I do the business of selling new clothes(boutique), Ladies handbags, shoes and Jewelry. I started it immediately in the year 2010 after i was laid off with the little money I had from my previous savings. After a year, that is in the year 2011, I was given a loan by a Sacco called Jijenge self help group, whereby I managed to add more stock in my boutique business. The boutique services you can get here are ladies clothes, handbag, ladies shoes, and jewelery among other services.I sell mostly ladies goods because they sell much faster and they earn good profits. Prices for shoes range between $6 to $12, dresses range between $13 to $20 Handbags range between $7 to $ 12 and jewellery range between $10 to $15. I am able to sell at affordable prices because I get my goods from Uganda.Goods are much cheaper in Uganda than here in Kenya. Because of my prices, I normally get customers who buy my stock in bulk to go and sell in other towns in Kenya. This business is very profitable, It pays for my children's school fees, and even cater for my family needs. My shop is strategically located at the heart of Nakuru City, along Gusii Road opposite Mount Sinai Hotel. My biggest challenge right now is lack of money for buying more stocks of goods. I have loyal customers who normally buy in bulk. I therefore require a bigger stocks of goods in order to maintain all my customers. This will enable me to sell everyday and make good profit. I therefore request lenders to help me make my dream come true. In future, I would like to establish more boutiques shops in other areas of Nakuru town.

Loan Proposal

Thanks a lot the Zidisha Organization for considering my loan application and your timely respond. The issue of new clothes in the market sometimes becomes another challenge to my business, due to lack of finances.Through the Zidisha Loan, I will be able to deal with these obstacles and eventually have a lot of sales which in turn a lot of profit.I will buy the new imported clothes already in the market for my customers satisfactions. Thanks a lot the Zidisha team.I welcome all the willing Lenders and God Bless you.

Hello - i see that you invited Mr. Bernard Tangus to join Zidisha, so I feel you must know him. He has not made any repayments on his most recent loan since the end of October. Could you find out if he is all right, and what the problem is with his business? Thank-you.

My business has been doing well since but recently I have a neighbour who has opened his shop next to my shop. He is doing very bad business. because his selling the same type of clothes but at very cheap prices which has really affected my business. He has even employed sales men who are calling customers who want to enter my shop. I have gone to the authority to report the matter but nothing has been done. It has reached a point where sometimes we get into physical confrontation. I am forced to close my shop because many times there is no order . This has scared a lot of customers away because of fear. I have not been able to run my business peaceful. I therefore request to pay smaller amount of money which I can afford as at now.

I want to thank all my lenders once again for their support. With their help, I went to Uganda last week on Saturday and bought socks of goods that I had budgeted for. I have now restocked my boutique. I wish to reschedule my loan to a smaller amount that I will be able to pay promptly because I have used most of the money to buy more stock goods for my boutique. I will go back to pay much bigger amount every week once the stocks starts moving.

I would like to appeal to lenders to please fund Milka's loan. Milka is a very hard working lady. She is the one who invited me to Zidisha. She has also shared this noble micro- finance with many people. Through her good advice for me to join Zidisha, I have now been able to equip my daycare centre.

I want to take this opportunity once again to thank my lenders for the support that they have given me. Today my business has improved because of your financial help. I would like to reschedule the current amount of money because of the financial budget that I have now. The school are opening here in Kenya and I am going to use a good amount of money to pay for my children's school fees. I may not be able to pay 2500 as I was paying before. Thank you.

My business has been improving each and every day. The last loan that I was given enable me to purchase more stock from Uganda. I managed to sell this stock within a short period of time because of the many customers who love buying from my shops. Selling my clothes in wholesale has really boost my business. Today my stocks sell very fast as a result of selling my clothes in wholesale. I am now capable of paying my loan more comfortable.
